I have a friend whos daughter has an early 90's Subie that needs a timing belt job. He lives in Manassas. Any recommendations for a shop that is honest....She gotcharged 200.00 by a Firestone shop to change the accessory drive belts and then they wanted another 1000.00 to do the timing belt..can you say duplication of labor...anyway this guy can't do it himself and doesn't want his daughter to get ripped again or stranded.

Talk to Grumpy... I know his shop is in Manassas... he could do it or know someone.

You might want to look for a Subie specialist. I was looking through timing belt jobs for my Outback and there's approximate 7 special tooks you need to lock the 4 cams into place and some weird junk. I don't about your particular subie though.

Yeah, I don't know about the early 90's cars, just that some shop that is familiar with the job will *definitely* be better than one that is "willing to learn"

I had a good shop that I really trusted before I started oding my own work. I havent seen them in 1.5 years but they are really nice, do a good job and you dont have to pay much..

I wish my frriend hadnt had to close his shop due to "differences among management". He is opening up a new one right now, but they do lots of subie and dsm work.
