Totalled or not?

Well I get a nice little call at 2AM from my ex-girlfriend. Somehow ive been getting quite a few of these (not from the same exs) and so I just thought it was another blah blah blah ther sad blah blah blah...well YES!! and NO!!

My ex-girlfriend crested a hill and came up on two stopped cars. Didnt have time to react and crashed. Its a 2004 I beleive RSX Type-S.

Just wanted to show you guys how only a 20mph crash can do to your poor car, and also, guesstimates on wether insurance will total the vehicle or not. The pictures are kind of vague, I Wish she had opened the hood for it so I can determine wether engine stuff was damaged...but look how far back the radiator is..

PS- No calling dibs on parts. I know how you mmers are...lol.

Nah doesn't look totalled to me, book value is pretty high on that car. That looks like about 7-8k in damages, not enough to total it.

I'd say theres about 9k in damage there barring no engine damage other than radiator and some hoses.

new fenders and hoods are cheap. I doubt it's totalled unles the frame got bent

Depends on the blue book value of the car. Typically if the damages exceed 70% (or was it 50?) of the car's value they total it. It doesn't look like it had serious frame damage because the impact seems to have gone over the bumper support. However it might have damaged the subframe in other places. If I had to guess I'd say 45% chance it'll be totalled.

The "general" rules for instant death are...
1. Frame damage
2. Airbags out

I bet they total it, but I also bet it gets rebuilt somewhere down the line. My mom's car is rolling around in Canada somewhere according to Carfax... :?

takes 75 percent of the value of the ar in damages to total it. you can never tell by simple pictures. a body shop will have to tear it down to see how bad it really is. a very simple hit that doesnt look like much damage car total a car easy and a horrible looking car may not truely be that bad. airbags going off dont make the car totalled. just more expensive to fix.

its deff going to have to be looked at by an insurance adjuster first then probably go to a body shot to be disassembled to look into it further and see how much the damage repairs goes up. but it will take 75 percent of the value of the car in damages to total it.

if she wanted it totalled (which i sure as hell would) she needs to get the car to a body shop that usually rights high ass estimates and does expensive work that will scare the insurance company away from fixing it. I know where to go for euro cars but not acuras
