There are usually huge inserts giving potential auto show attendees an idea of what they will be seeing if they go. I saw on TV that there is going to be a Jeep offroad course set up inside and you can jump in and drive up hills and such. Different from anything I experienced when I had gone, fwiw.

well, if you want to see a car show, skip DC entirely and just go to the detroit one. it's AWESOME. The displays are 10x better, the new cars are shown like years earlier, they have all the exotics there (including all the maybachs, lamborghinis, and my favorites, aston martins). The town is kinda lame, and you have to kinda find something to do because all the big venues are used for huge galas for the first couple nights of the show, but it's totally worth it.
DC on the other hand, isn't really an industry show, it's a show put on by the local dealerships.... So it's kinda scaled down, although most normal cars are there. I've even seen a ferrari there one year. You can sit in most cars, except for the concepts, porsches, and any high end exotics that might show up. On the whole though, the people that are there to sell/provide information know nothing, but then, what's new? I thought about being a concept car babe one time, but I have no idea how to get into that racket. So yeah...if you can't afford the airfare/train ticket to detroit, DC is worth it to see the new stuff, but it's nowhere close to what Detroit is.

cool, i figure for 5 bucks its worth it to stop by one evening, I didn't think DCs would be like the big shows (LA, NY, Detroit) so this looks like its comparable to the one that was in Providence every once in a while

I went to DC the past two years, and it's like what Lorena said, a big car dealership. I wasn't too impressed.

I think the DC Auto Show is worth going to if you don't have anything better to do but for me its not really worth it anymore. I've seen all manner of exotic cars up close so it really doesn't do anything for me nowadays. We've done Ferrari of Washington, we've seen a McLaren F1 GTR up close, we've seen the Bentley Speed 8 up close...
So now regular car shows are ok, but not something to go out of the way for. The only shows I'd really try to go to now would be Detroit, LA, Tokyo, or Geneva.

Oh, they have concepts, but they are the concepts that were unveiled at the big auto shows like the year before, and/or just not as many as the big shows. But yeah, totally worth going to if you want to see the cars for the coming year and getting to DC is convenient for you.

"...what was all that one-in-a-million talk???"[/lloyd] i've seen most of the nice cars in person and the super nice one's you're not really allowed to sit inside, but it's ok. Like G said though, if you're looking for something to do it's fun. It's kinda nice to sit in and feel new cars. I personally wish they had a demo day or car fair with cars....test drives galore...mmmm. if a group of people are going i could be interested in going though. Random memory from show last year: I remember sitting in a Mini Cooper S at last year's show and then my friend mike (mpg9999) called me to say he found my stolen car near his bank. I immediately left to go see my stolen piece.
