So it looks like the Supreme Court denied Stanley William's appeal for clemency. How do you all feel about this particular case?

I've never been one really to advocate the death penalty, being a Quaker and all. The guy started one of the worst gangs in history and caused a lot of death and misery, but on the other hand he's rehabilitated to the point where he's actually HELPING people that he used to harm. I feel like it's kind of counter-productive at this point to kill the guy. Of course, I'm not in the family of one of his victims so I'm not that biased.

It's not like this guy is still the scum of the earth that has no remorse about what he's done. He writes children's books that encourage kids to stay out of gangs for f's sake!

I for one think he deserved clemency. Schwartzenegger obviously wouldn't give it to him for political reasons, and the Supreme Court probably didn't for the same reasons. To truly reform a guy through the prison system to the point where he's going above and beyond what most members of our society do for others kind of seems like a rarity.

i dont think he deserves clemency. a lot of inmates on death row seem to find spirituality and want to give back to the community. this one is one of the more famous ones. he's done some bad things, and i dont really feel bad for him.

So the Terminator isn't going to save him either? I kind of thought he would. I'm afraid cali's going to get torn up by rioters tonight! I honestly don't know enough about the case to know if I agree with the death penalty or not, but if that's what was decided, I'm glad to see that they have the balls to go through with it. I hope they take the right precautions to prevent more innocent deaths, because it certianly isn't worth killing him if more people die because of it. Hopefully they'll be proactive enough to prevent retaliation and maybe take out a few more Tookies In Training. That's right. Tits. Smile

lol @ tits =p

I didn't even consider the rioting factor. I wonder if there's going to be an increase in gang violence leading up to his execution.

fry that fucker, he has done enough to warrant execution 100 times over
just because he feels bad about it doesnt change anything. Think about if your parents had been killed by him or his goons. Would you feel all warm and fuzzy just because he feels bad about it? Hell no.

whats ironic about his efforts to discourage youths from going into gangs is that HE STARTED THE GANG MOVEMENT

Well, for the sake of playing devils advocate, what good does it do to kill him now? Those he helped kill are dead, and he's obviously not doing any harm now. And for that matter, since when do we judge people by solely what they have done in the past?

Edit: To that last sentence, that is when they have also had a future ahead of them (not to mention the fact that he is obviously helping out right now)

doesn't matter who he is now. his actions in the past warrant more than the death penalty can punish.

what kind of precedent would it set if we allowed people to do anything as long as they repent in the end? it would simply be silly. oh wait... the church does that.... i digress Tongue

Unless the people that he killed can be brought back, no amount of repenting will keep him out of the chair (or whatever they use in that fruitcake state).

from what i've read, he apparently hasn't shown much remorse towards the families of those whom he killed.

for everything he's done, to let him go at this point would be a disservice to the justice system. i certainly couldn't be the one to pull the trigger so to speak, but i could never be ok with watching him become a free man again.

Oh, and all the people that are protesting, speaking out, and masquerading as champions of justice to keep him alive can lick my large hairy beanbag. Absolutely pathetic.

In death, they become dry and brittle.

Therefore, stubborn people are disciples of death, but
Flexible people are disciples of life.

Do not conquer the world with force, for force only causes resistance.

Years of misery follow a great victory.
Do only what needs to be done without using violence.
