The legs are 4x4's, everything else is 2x4's. I bought 24 feet of 4x4, and 80 feet of 2x4, 2 boxes of nails, 1 box of carriage bolts and nuts. The legs are bolted to the 2x4's with carriage bolts, and all the 2x4's together are nailed.
If I had to do this again, I'd get a level, although it turned out fine without one. I'd also inspect the wood more carefully, some of the boards were pretty warped. The upper shelf support on the left side isnt exactly straight on, but there's not a whole lot I'm interested in doing about it. Kaan came over and said "honestly I'm suprised you're even using a tape measure"
If you're building *anything* i recommend you get your hands on one of these things. I borrowed this one, and it made everything so much easier. I'd also get some sort of powered nail gun next time too.

It wouldn't be too hard to build slide out shelves into it I don't think. You could just frame the boxes for them, buy slider hardware and build your own drawers out of OSB or something.

Drawers... interesting idea.....

Drawers would effectively double the usage / usefulness of that bench ^_^
Look at all that space you have underneath!
You know what else you could do. Cover the bottom supports with plywood, use that cutout as a model for like maybe 2 more identical pieces and install them like shelves above it. Then you can buy those cheap plastic organizer systems that stack on each other, or the nicer ones that have a plastic housing that they slide in and out of. You could just lay those out on the shelves for nuts / bolts / zipties / removed badges / snacks / etc. =p

Not yet
I borrowed an F150 to get the first load home, I had to go back to get some more wood, and the gutted integra worked great for that 8 foot studs, no problem!
I got the top shelf nailed in, the table screwed on, vice mounted and put another leg on the front for some extra support and we're done

You need a better top. That one will last a very short time spilling fluids on it. Look for someone getting rid of an old counter top, they clean up great and you can beat the living shit out of them, just don't weld on it...
agreed on the top comment... if it isn't a 4 inch thick slab of tree, it won't last long.

Julie's dad is working on renovating a school in winchester, and he definately got cabinets with a nice counter top from the last school he renovated, so if he comes across some more and he isn't going to take them for his own use I'll have him pick them up for you.
