The M3... minus the bumper, radiator, etc hock: hock:
Yeah, you told me so... I had it towed to Charlottesville before I ran out of AAA miles... I have it at a body shop there to find out what kind of $$$ we're talking to get it fixed up. Didn't look like any frame damage, suspension damage or engine damage. The radiator was busted and of course hood, fendors and bumper will have to be replaced. We'll see. Good news is I don't have another race until next season :?
geez man, i just saw Chad's video and now this! i hope the bill isn't too bad for you. at least you're ok and the airbags didn't go off.
what part of the track did this happen on btw?

sux John, hopefully its fixed for VIR in Febuary..!
hum, I say we keep a tally going of who's cost more to fix
It was the first session on Saturday, after some heavy rain Friday night. Chad and I stayed up late changing out my pads and rotors and I decided to keep the Pirellis on the car for the next day instead of putting on the Hankooks (which I thought would have been worse in the rain). We got through the warmup lap pretty well. I seemed to have pretty good control despite the rainy conditions. On the next lap, I went into turn 1 pretty cool (about 100 mph) but still didn't have the stopping power I needed and went off course. No problem though. However, for the rest of the lap, I felt like I had NO control at all of the rear end. I should have limped to the pit, but instead I came down the roller coaster and entered 17 at probably 55 mph or so. If you know where I'm talking about, there's a little dip if you come into 17 too tight and instead of trying to adjust by opening the wheel a little, I pinched it even more, lost my tail and 360'd into the inside guard rail. The only reason I didn't flip around and hit it with the rear was the bumper got caught in the guard rail and the force of having it pulled off along with the spin slowed me down enough that I avoided that. Lesson learned about driving in the wet.

Hogpen: 2, MM: 0
I did something similar to you a few years back but I went into a tank slapper and spun center track so I missed the guard rail. A tricky turn that Hogpen is.
It hurts teh wallet but at least neither of you guys got hurt and it doesn't look like either of you have frame damage so both cars should live to ryde again.
The thing that sucks about the rain is that when the grass is wet you just slide...and slide...

Sorry Chad, someone was hogging the camera or I'd have a nifty little video of my crash too

Didn't help that it was about 12" long either  thanks VIR.

Well, I figured you'd take it slow, so therefor it would be pretty crappy footage, that's what I get for thinking
Your pics are printed. My bro came over with the spare Solara key and I found my spare house key, so I should be good tomorrow. See you then.

Hogpen in the wet is downright scary. I've had my share of moments there, and I was in a full on opposite lock tank slapper there earlier this year in my integra. But, you have to slide it to be fast.....

Damn John,
I'm so sorry to hear it. I'm impressed that you've taken everything so well.
Two feet.
Me: I don't really want VIR to be my first track experience, because I don't even have the vaguest clue of how it's shaped.
RJ: Oh, watch some video, you'll be fine.
Uh-huh...
I hope both of you guys work it out well. You're both alright, and that's the important thing.
