And it is story/picture time:
Flash back! I'm in the middle of a top secret tuning session with the mad scientists, on an undisclosed road in Northern Virginia.
Minutes after doing a highly knock filled run I hear the dreaded sound: bingle bingle pop. I kid you not.
I slip the car out of gear and it dies.
Car refuses to turn over either by hand, with the starter, or by pushing it and dumping the clutch.
Further investigation that night reveals that piston number four has made contact with a valve...somehow. Much speculation is involved as the mad scientists and I wait for the tow truck.
Flash foward! Present day, at another undisclosed top secret location.

Outside it looks like any ordinary shop. But strange noises are coming from within. What are the mad scientists up to?
Step a little closer, my friend.
![[Image: OurSmallWorld.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/OurSmallWorld.jpg)
The mad scientists are in the middle of a tear down!
![[Image: PartsontheFloor.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/PartsontheFloor.jpg)
You have shown up late to the party. The turbo, intercooler and intake piping, both manifolds, the radiator and various other parts have already been removed. The wiring harness and all vacuum/fuel/water lines are also out of the picture.
But we're going to have to check on those piston rings!
![[Image: MinusManifolds.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/MinusManifolds.jpg)
![[Image: MinusManifolds2.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/MinusManifolds2.jpg)
As you survey the engine bay...you notice there isn't much work left to do.
Pull them axles out and bring the hoist over...this ish is almost out.
![[Image: WiringHarness.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/WiringHarness.jpg)
At this point you're wishing you were a mad scientist. We only have to label half the wiring harness.
Yo...guys....where is that hoist? Let's pull this motor and watch FnF2.
![[Image: RobBuildingHoist.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/RobBuildingHoist.jpg)
As a mad scientist...Rob knows that storing your hoist unassembled saves the most space. It just takes a few minutes to put back together.
One hour goes by.
![[Image: MMStand.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/MMStand.jpg)
Tada. Now it is time to get that bitch out of there.
![[Image: EngineOut.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/EngineOut.jpg)
Easy as RJ's mom! Zing...my first MM mom joke. Please tell me I worked it in nice. Like Maeng's mom! Wow, that is two in a row for me.
![[Image: BareEngineBay.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/BareEngineBay.jpg)
A couple of spoon motors would pull premium before race wars. Or whatever it is that asian guy says.
![[Image: BlockTrannyHead.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/BlockTrannyHead.jpg)
Time to see what happened to this motor.
![[Image: BottomofHead.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/BottomofHead.jpg)
Bottom of the cylinder head. Anyone see anything wrong with this picture?
![[Image: Cylinder4.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/Cylinder4.jpg)
How about now. Close up of cylinder four shows massive signs of detonation....plus the bottom of one intake valve has gone missing. Oh where oh where could he be?
![[Image: block.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/block.jpg)
I think I see something!
![[Image: CylinderandValve.jpg]](http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b303/kpwsavestheday/CylinderandValve.jpg)
Our missing valve had fallen down into the cylinder and wreaked a little havoc.
And so ends your visit to the mad tyte tuner shop.
As you leave...you wonder how those damn piston rings are doing.
