I need a tiny light radiator that will still cool a turbo motor like a champ. I am thinking the 00 Civic rad might be good. Does anyone have one or know someone who does? Any other radiator would work too as long as it is fairly small and is a good cooler (I assume the honda one is?) Also, someone post up a wanted on hondatech using my E-mail as the contact (morrisjr@jmu.edu) I can't bring myself to join the forum.

Your assumption that the Civic and other Honda cars run small radiators because they are extremely efficient is wrong. They get away with small radiators because the block is made of aluminum and the cylinders are sleeved with a stronger alloy. This set up does not require the kind of cooling a solid (unsleeved) block does.
But...what the fuck do I know...that radiator might be perfect for you. Not that I could help you find one.

That tiny civic radiator is not enough for a b00sted motor at all. Its not even enough for a stock 140hp non-vtec mtor.

if small size is a must, would an aftermarket aluminum civic radiator work?
Two feet.

Jeff,
Sorry man, no such thing exists. Turbos, espicailly H2O cooled ones, are serious sources of heat and you need a lot of radiator to handle it. Perhaps you could find a "tiny" multi-core cross flow layered system, but "light" and "affordable" aren't going to be in that equation.
My XR has a rad out of a Saab 9000. It was small enough to fit under my intercooler piping and it actually works much better than the stock XR radiator. It is ok for street use, but it heats up very quickly on the track. As a matter of fact I dreamed last night that it got so hot that my water temp gauge started spewing coolant! (it's an electric gauge too, wow!)...
Anyhow, my suggestion woudl be to find a Saab radiator for now. Many XR guys use it for street and strip. I'm going to be selling mine in a few weeks bcause I'm upgrading to a custom job...

Hey now... it has only risen in temps at one track day and that was a tight course and hot as shit.
What is the same size as a Civic radiator and cools probably 1.5x better is a Del Sol VTEC Dual Core Radiator.
Enjoy!

i need a tach and some real gauges.

The watercooled feature is supposed to be why Chrysler had so little problems with their turbo cars. I just need a replacement because the old one is leaking and they are very small, expensive, and hard to find. TurboDodge members want $100 for a used one without the intercooler attached. I feel like a dumbass because I had 2, traded one, and the one I kept was bad The demensions are 16X19 and it is about 3in thick.

Are the tanks bad in the one you have? Why not just get it rebuilt at a radiator shop? if you're tanks on the top/bottom are still good, they can do the rest
