Heh, that's the highest I've ever seen one for, but the mileage is why. Still..all of them are ridiculously expensive, if that guy bought that new, he's getting over 400% return on his investment in 18 years..not bad

Anyone care to explain to me why this car is so special that he thinks that he can even get close to that amount of money for it.

limited production, it's a classic, very sought after, basically brand new (159 miles). it's one of a kind i'd have to think. you'll note that bidding started at $1987 so it's actual buyers valuing the car at $58k+

When you see that GNX badge, you know the car is gonna be rare as shit. Those cars were sent to McLaren to have components added to them in the production stage.

"GNX
547 Produced
276 HP @ 4400 RPM
360 ft-lbs of torque at 3000 RPM"

and also..McLaren never got a chance to touch them..they were just born badass..

"
The GNX was designed to be the "Grand National to end all Grand Nationals". Outwardly the GNX resembles the Grand National but the modifications performed on these cars made them one of the fastest, best handling and most sought after cars Buick had ever built. It was developed by the then Advanced Concepts & Marketing Vehicles manager, Mike Doble. The car was to be converted by ASC/McLaren. McLaren had been involved with the original Buick/McLaren V-6 racer used at Indy and the 24 valve V-6 Wildcat concept car. McLaren had also developed some early prototypes of the Intercooled Grand National. The basic concept was to build the car to be a full second quicker than the Grand National and improve it's handling. Although plans called for Engine blueprinting, head porting, special bearings, shot-peened rods, and a high-rpm valve train, testing of stock Grand National engines showed that the GNX goal could be met without opening the engine. There were 547 GNXs built and all were 2! doo r coupes and optioned the same, there were no additions or deletions. "

Meh, it's an old Buick. You can make those fast as hell, but anyone who's buying that is probably buying it for a private collection with that low of mileage on it. My guess is that it's unlikely that thing will get driven or modified too much. I too could think of so many better ways to spend that kind of loot....like a Corvette or M3.

The people that can afford to pay 60k for a 1987 Buick most likely already have a Corvette and M3. Wink
