There's a 240sx on craigslist for 1100. if anyone wants to check it and not from nova, i'll be going back there this weekend and can snap pics for you if you like. My GF's family lives in annandale as well, so it won't be any trouble.

Wow Im gonna take a look at this, hopefully the guy hasnt sold it by now. Incase I do go take a look, anybody in or arround annandale wanna come with me? This whole process is new to me, so id prefer to have someone arround who's been through buying a used car, and knows what to look for.

I emailed the guy to get pics/go take a look, so we'll see what happens.

Hes going to send me pictures tommorow. When I asked him about the history of the car, this is what he sent:
I'll send you pictures tomorrow, but to give you a brief description,
it's gray inside and out (no leather interior) needs new brake pads,
alternator, has minor dents and scratches, the flip up lights don't go
down, needs a couple of cheap fuses to light up the dashboard, engine
needs cleaning. If you're still interested let me know, like i said
i'll send you pics tomorrow.

So what do you guys think? I emailed him back saying ill look at the pics and hopefully we can set up a time to look at the car. When he gets back to me ill let ya know (andy) and hopefully we can go take a look. Any suggestions as to what to look for? Is it even worth going to look or is this not as appealing of a deal anymore...etc....thanks guys!

s13 interiors were crap brand new, so don't expect much. Electrical problems are a biatch, so just be real careful when checking it out, I have a fuse set I can bring to verify this bastards claims. If the fuses keep popping, then there are bigger problems. Honestly, if you want a cheap piece of crap to go racing in, i think s13's are cool. but if you want something a little better looking, and comfortable, you might want something else. One of the things I've always liked about s13's is that you could strip out the interior and it wouldn't make the inside look much worse.

Thats the thing. I couldn't care less what it feels like / looks like (on the inside anyway). I want something I can track, and something that I can work on for a while to help me learn about cars. If I had this and I knew how Id strip the interior whenever I had the time.

How much would it cost to fix everything he has said? Engine wise anyway (fuses/alt)

the alt would take about an hour, and would cost ~100bucks. the fuses are a few cents a piece but if you put in a new one and it pops immediately, then there's a short somewhere and it could end up being a PITA. but who knows. schedule something with the guy and lets go take a look. there's a 240sx in the valley trader asking a 1k as well.

Eh...I keep looking at it and its looking less and less appealing. Normally I wouldnt mind the work, but I dont wanna settle for something when I know I can get what I want (a hatch) for about the same price.

coupes are lighter and stiffer. Ive had both, and my hatch is a wet noodle in comparison, with a lot of bonus squeaks and rattles.
