Robbie skeerd of Danica

That's just sad. Race in another series where the driver weight isn't as much of an issue or lose some wieght. What a moron. Whoever was the first person he said this to should have slapped the shit out of him before it got out to the press

If she drove in the nude, she'd have even more of a weight advantage.

He has a point but he was a bitch about making it.

In a 1500 lb car 100 lbs is a significant weight advantage/disadvantage. However before even getting in to that maybe he should start acting like a real professional and lose some weight. If he's 5'10" and weighs 200 lbs he could lost at least 40 lbs. I guess in NASCAR weight isn't that much of factor since the car weighs 3500+ lbs.

Anyway the real rub with what he said is that he's suggesting that Danica only did well because she is light. I'm sure it played a part but that comment was in poor taste (not that NASCAR is a place where I'd expect to find good taste).

Overall just a bitch comment to make, even if he does have a point.

As someone commented in that post, if lightweight drivers are the answer teams would have gone that route long ago. If it is such an advanatge wouldn't these lighter drivers also be faster at the lower levels of open-wheeled racing where weight plays an even larger factor because you have less power and subsequently shoot up the ranks in to the IRL before now?

Sounds like someone is looking for some Mikey rules. Or should we call them Derecola rules? Sidenote: 944 Cup was made when CD was tired of being at a weight disadvantage since cars were weighed without drivers Tongue

well, yeah G, of course he has a point. But it's stupid! :? This series specs a weight for the CAR. Frankly, I'm surprised at this high of a level of motorsport that they don't already have little midgets and jockeys riding around in the cars. Yup, she has a weight advantage. Good point Robbie. DUH. Prepare to be replaced by Mini Me.

Exactly. As stated above, he does have a point, but if he cared that much about winning/putting himself and his team in the best position he would sacrifice and lose 40-50 pounds. It seems absurd to make this point, let alone make it publicly. As G says it completely takes away from her driving ability, and makes her success seem DEPENDENT on her weight. Absolutely rediculous.

Yeah, seriously.

I don't often hear about motorcycle racers bitching about losing because of their own weight.... because they're not dumbshits! If you suck at life so much that you have to complain to a governing body about your own damn weight then "save us the red tape."

If you're too heavy to compete if your own series, lighten up. If it's unrealistic to get to a competitive weight then make a nice, suggestive comment - don't open up and be a media clown because of it.... or maybe, if you're like Robbie Gordon, you just suck.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

Robbie can eat crap. i actually used to like him too, since he was pretty competitive at motorsports outside of NASCAR too. Danica should land a healthy drop kick to his balls.

Danica finishes fourth in Indy, Robbie wrecks at Charlotte. Maybe instead of giving chicks a handicap, maybe Robbie should stop complaining and just drive, or at least drive in a series he can compete in.
