okay, after looking around in the area and with much help from all members of MM, I have finally gotten my new ride.

new front rotors, 89,7xx miles, 6-cd changer, 35% tint on rea side and rear windows, plus all 90K maintenance done on it, including timing belt replacement.

Don't hate on the man's new car. I can't believe we debated about your car for 10 pages and you get something none of us recommended  It's cool, we'll blame your parents. Let's see some pics.
Man, VW's are not my thing. I hope you like it and Blair know his ish so he can help you out. I have a friend with a 98 Jetta that has gone to chit inside of 2 years and he dosn't even drive it that much. Everything just brakes for no reason. Thats not hate thats just caution. Treat it well and be as preventitive with the wrenching as you can. From all *I* have seen VW's (like all cars, but they are harder to work on) fall apart with age. Thats from working on 2 Jettas, a Beetle, and a Passat. Good deal on it though, at least your car runs. (yeah, all cars fall apart with age...I should know)

That should be a fun little car. I liked our Golf (also an A3 2.0L 5-speed), and I definitely miss it when I have to drive my truck to work and then to the gas station. Congrats.

not a bad deal.. you'll love it man.. get some nice suspensions and tires and its a great start. plus parts are everywhere. and i doubt youll have any problems with it at all. if so between me and my freinds we have parts everywhere

Honestly, I'm alittle afraid of VW's after my experience working on my buddy's jetta. However, I think we also consider that Frodo needs women and chicks will dig a GTI. They will not dig a stripped out 240, no matter how much you explain weight savings.
Here's to hoping you'll get a chick butt naked in that car soon :thumbup:
congrats Mike. the fact that it's a 5 speed is awesome. i think the 2.0 is a fine choice for now....once you get used to the power and have some spare change, drop a little old VR6 in there....
