Hey guys. I got yet another "new" car to give up the parts for my project car. A 1988 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z (Shelby Z). Its being hauled in today and I will have pics up tonight. 2.2L Turbo, intercooled, with a 5-speed. There is a poll up with this one but do not vote until I get the pictures of the car up. It dosn't run now but it is two shakes from it. $400 towed

keep the onmi, and focus on one project. don't succumb to the typical MM path - having a collection of half finished projects/busted piles

bling the omni, make the shelby a nice daily driver. weight is your enemy as far as performance goes... unless we're talking about a bentley or something:

Note-worthy points-
-A555 Trans w/ equal length drive shafts
-2.2L Turbo 2 (wish I wouldn't have bought those rods!)
-Intercooler (crappy stock, worth about $75)
-Good leather "bling bling" seats, power with airbag lumbar and leg supports
-5 ok condition "crab" wheels, $50 each
-disc rear brakes
Those were all the cool things that could bring money and parts if I continue the Omni project. Other sellable items include the wing, the bodykit, the extra intake, turbo, and head, and many other parts I have "extra" now.

There is no intake on the engine in that pic :? . I really think the Charger would be hotter, but then again I have always liked them.

I have to admit your new car looks better then again, anything looks better than the Omni, though you would win originality points for the Omni. Do the Shelby. It looks nice.
Car dosn't run...the intake is in the trunk. Hole in the gas tank and a cut exhast at this point. I'm really thinking on this stuff hard. I got a call just a min ago from a guy with an 89 Daytona Shelby with an extra engine and transmission for $300. Wreaked fender and it dosn't run. So I dunno what to do. I could buy ANOTHER Shelby and take 2 to make one and still have the parts left over to do the Omni...hmmm...

i think the omni looks better than the shelby... from a completely asthetic view too.

Thanks Mike, I like the look of both but I lean to the Omni also. The Daytona does however look a lot like a Conquest/Starion only smaller and not as wide. I think I need to stick with my original plan and just try to make as much money as I can off this car in parts as I can...I dunno...sigh...

restore the shelby and make it your daily driver and make the omni your track rat. stick with the omni project, but tone it down a bit. just gut it and a few suspension mods and make it an autox car for now so you will have money to fix the shelby.

I think you guys might be mis-judging the meaning of "Shelby" on this car. All it means is a decal package, some seats, and a intercooler. Its not a numbered Shelby car, those were in the early 80's. Sylvia likes it and she is buying another one (a Red 89' Shelby Z) next week. We are gonna take 2 to make one then still have a A555 and a 2.5 turbo left over for the omni. Its win-win. The 89 comes with an extra engine and 555...so in total we will have..
3 A-555 transmissions (one for sale $350)
1 Automatic transmission (for sale $200)
2 2.5L commonblock engines
2 2.2 Non-commonblock engines (for sale $150 takes a short-block)
4 Turbo II Garrett turbos (keeping the 89's, selling the 88's $125 each)
1 T1 Garrett Turbo ($25 for a core)
1 T1 Mitsu (best Fin' offer)
4 Turbo II intakes (2 for sale at $75 each)
5 Cylinder heads (3 for sale $100 each)
4 Turbo computers (3 for sale $50 each)
1 Daytona shell
WOO HOO thats a lot of busted turbo Dodge. I'll have me a runnin' Shelby by Monday, I might even post a video if I can get it hosted.
