hey one of 2 things are happening, your stock idle setting is whacked out, or your choke cable assembly is binding up.

Does it respond at all when you turn the choke on and off? It might be sticking to 50%, that'll make a 7k idle. The exact same thing happened to my '93. What happened to mine is the little choke arm was binding up against a part of the motor causing it not to retract.
Take the tank off and look at the carburetors and see how the choke arm retracts, i'll bet its binding up at some point of its travel. It might be a sticky cable, you can try to shoot some oil down the tube and blow it through the line with some air.

whatever it is, you can still lower your idle a little bit by unscrewing the idle adjuster some, just to get it to the dealer. dont run it like that because the rich mix affects cylinder to piston lubrication.
