FedEx man came today. Im 100% sure he hates me.

This is what $1500 and a Mazdaspeed sponsorship will buy you.
The packing invoice was 2 pages long. Highlights include, full SpecMiata suspension kit, all engine gaskets, blueprinted hubs, tie rod ends, tow hooks, all engine seals, SM air restrictor (Sad) more seals, gaskets, hoses, belts, and other engine installation crap than I care to count, and a cat replacement pipe. and thats not including the stuff that wasnt in stock.

wouldnt want to forget whats sitting out in the garage.
a junkyard engine under the tarp, a rear caliper, and the mazdaspeed exhaust.

sweet! 8) Blueprinted hubs? Never hearda that one. And I didn't know they used air restrictors! They figured miatas are too fast against.... miatas? Shows what I know.

Cart it all down here and we'll knock it out.

the "sponsorship" really isnt that impressive. Mazda gives racers factory replacement parts at cost and race parts at a small discount. Some of that stuff on the table was from a separate vendor, like the blueprinted hubs ($300), autometer gauge, hardtop brackets and lexan window.
It helps, but its not mad international race sponsors payin the billz Tongue

Im still waiting to hear back from Red Bull, Infineon, Target, and Budwieser

I wish! Cry
A bare bones build up would be:

1.6 Shell with good motor: $3000 (my 1.8 was $5k)
Hardtop: $1000
Rollcage: $1800 (maybe more with higher steel prices now?)
Seat+ install: $750
suspension kit: $1400
15x7 wheels: $400
15x7 wheels: $400
dry RA-1s: $600
wet RA-1s: $600
align+corner $140
exhaust: $160
hardtop brackets $100
and a bunch of other stuff Im forgetting

total over $10k

and then all the basic maintenence on an old car like new calipers, fluids, radiator (mine popped already), new hubs (weak point on miata) and other optional stuff like steering wheel, hub kit, chin spoiler, and you have yourself a pretty substantial total, but still cheap in comparison to other racecars. I had almost $10k in parts alone on the WRX, and it wasnt even close to being a racecar.

I'd be down to help even though my technical skills are fairly low. Moral support is always good ! Jk, I've helped do a few things on a few types of cars... hit me up if you need an extra set of hands or another mouth to feed beer to 8)

Alot like SE-R Cup. I bet I could build a car that would do ok for 6-7k. If that was the only costs for racing, I'd be building a car right now. Problem is the yearly costs of tires, gas, brakes, etc. One of the cup guys made a spread sheet and his yearly total came out to something like 7,000.

So your in NOVA? I'm in Alexandria and can lend a hand.

Still not bad. I've got 2x that just in aftermarket parts on my car right now and that's sans cage and fuel cell.
