Fun Drag Day?

I think it'd be fun to get a bunch of the MM guys to an 1/8th mile track on a test+tune or an open day. None of us will have competitive cars or competitive times, but I think it'd be awesome to broaden our horizions a little while in good company of lots of beginners. Just a casual, low-compeition day. He with the slowest reaction time buys a round of drinks afterwards, that sorta thing. Maybe it'd help span the gap between the road racers and the drag racers?

I think its important that we all have at least an understanding of our sport of "Motorsports" and as much as it has to offer. Personally, I'd love to take a ride in a car that does 0-300 in 6 seconds....

Natural Bridge is ~1.15 hours away, Charlottesville has a track right? CV~45 minutes away and it has a few MM'ers there already.

This would have to take place after CMP (End of April). While trying to keep this thread on topic, Who would be interested?

As far as I know, Charlottesville itself doesn't have a track. Lord knows I'm on the CAV forum enough to have realized that. I think that the UVA folks go to Sumerduck and Eastside for the most part. Eastside is closer to all of us - I'd be up for going there at some point.

Pete, if you get here before 6 on Friday and drive the XR we can goto capitol. It's only 15 min from my place. $20 to run and if you run between 5:30-8:00 you will get at least 4-5 runs in before the crowd gets there.

I'm down..havent had my car to a track yet..dunno where eastside is? how far is that drive? Natural bridge used to be 15$..dont know if its gone up or not

only thing about eastside, they can be dicks toward anything without a V8 sometimes. i've been there many times and it's always an up and down battle. some days they will be forgiving, some not.

last time i ran i was pissed. you'll hear all the fuss about "you have to wear helmets" then half a dozen people will run without them and not a thing is said. then you might get the wrong guy and he'll look at you like "where's your helmet?" that's what made me mad. i wasn't going to run because of the supposed new helmet rule, but then saw people not with them, so i thought, what they hay. of course i got to the gate and got the evil eye and then i let my frustration out in the only run i did and ran like crap.

my last good run was without the headers, pulley, newer intake and e-fan and bumped timing from 10┬░BTDC> 20┬░BTDC. i ran a 10.89@65mph. i should be faster, at least into the 9's, but with this open diff and 3.45 gears i've got no traction and sucky pull off the line.

it's not that far fetched. you'd be amazed and what we have done with the 3.0L Vulcan in the Ranger world.

i say it would be more of high 9's though.

Those Vulcan engines will last forever, although it's not a performance motor. They do make supercharger kits for it though 8) .

we have a probe guy with a custom turbo set up also. it should be pretty fast, there was vids of it, but they aren't working anymore.
