Hey guys, here's some pics of my car..im thinking i am coming to the meeting for new members or whatever on the 7th, stopped by your booth at student org night.
1986 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. 103k miles, new base coat clear coat paint, new stripes. original wheels, new window tint.
New engine: SBC 350, + .030", Edelbrock Tubular Exhaust headers, Pocket Ported Polished Vortec Cylinder heads, Edelbrock performance RPM intake (0 - 5500). Edelbrock 4x4 cam (.442"intake/.442"exhaust). .1" dished hyperteutic pistons. Open air filter element
it needs a bigger cam, higher lift valve springs than what came on the heads, and to get rid of the pollution control crap...i did all the work myself, and theres a slight rear main seal oil leak(maybe 1qt/5 tanks of gas)..probably gonna pull the motor again(already tried to fix it once) this summer...new underhood embroidered "Monte Carlo SS" insulator (pics soon)...uhhh..that's all I can think of right now.
Stuff coming soon:
Probably a small nitrous shot (50 or so), new cam, new valve springs, new cat, new 700r4 transmission, B&M megashifter, stereo crap, interior
PS..its not bad lighting, it's just that bright!
Nice ride. Welcome to MM

I concur. Beautiful example of a Monte. Welcome to MM.
Dad had a Monte Carlo of the same vintage. Black with a 305. I was like, 5 years old. He kept it until my sister ran it into the wall of the garage and then he bought...something else.
Whatever it was, it wasn't as cool (in my 5 year old mind) as a Monte Carlo, because I can't remember it.

Hahaha..nice response Pden =p But i'm sure some of you guys can give me a good run or beat me...but yeah, the small shot is just because I want something to play with. never had a NOS car before, and I built this engine block up myself, took great care to have exact tolerances and such, dont wanna mess anything up..besides that, this car might be due for a centrifugal supercharger at some point and time, which is why I went with a dished piston to keep C/R down a little bit...always remember..less compression, more boost! hehe
PS...alternator went out on me this weekend...damnit!
I highly reccomned boost ;-)
Banks has some nice looking (I say "looking" b/c I haven't read up on them) twin turbo kits for chevy engines. You could be innovative and go that route! ("Everyone" has a supercharger). I'm a turbo guy though...

eh, im not full out race by any stretch, but you dont really want turbo lag on your 1/8th and 1/4 times..oh and cost..most turbo kits ive seen were more expensive
Has it been to the strip yet?
S/C would be nice...but I am a turbo guy. On the other hand...running a reall shot of nitrous, because I imagine that you built the engine right, would be much much cheaper and net you similar results.

The Banks twin-turbo setup has basically eliminated lag and can potentially put 1100 hp to the crank with one of their crate engines. I remember seeing him install that setup on one of the Horsepower TV modded cars. SICK.
Go turbo imo ! Do it right if you're gonna do it =p A good custom turbo setup with the right supporting mods nowadays can be made to have minimal lag. S/Cs are nice but will leech some of the power from your engine.
Sweet car, I'm alumni now I guess but maybe I'll see you at the car show ! Welcome to the club~

especially considering he has 350ci... that is a lot of air to feed a turbo. DO IT!
