The Moto GP boys are out testing their new bikes at Sepang in Malaysia. Don't know what's up with Rossi's 'Tide' helmet. Also, I HATE seeing Max Biaggi in Repsol Honda colors :x A season preview post is forthcoming.

Thanks G!
I'm suffering from withdrawl!

Keep it up! I'm loving this
I'm not very fond of seeing Biaggi in Repsol colors this year, either. He's far too much like Juan Pablo in that he's just not going to 'get it.' If somebody could just shut him up this year, "yeah, that'd be greaaat."
I do LOVE seeing Colin Edwards in Yamaha colors, though. He'll either be very good this year or he's going to shut off under the pressure. I think, at least.
Hopefully John Hopkins will put on a good show... and Kenny Roberts senior promises to make life fun for them

HRC fired Mick Doohan!
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2005/Jan/050126b.htm">http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2005/Jan/050126b.htm</a><!-- m -->
I don't see how they could possibly have thought this was a good idea but who knows what went on behind closed doors. Doohan supposedly did not like Biaggi (Erv Kanemoto doesn't like Biaggi either) so maybe that's part of the reason he didn't get his contract renewed. For the life of me I can't see why they think Biaggi is their man. I would've put Gibernau, Tamada or Edwards in that Repsol Honda spot, or even Daniel Pedrosa (250cc champion, youngest ever). We all know Gibernau had contract obligations but even the other guys would've been a better choice than the Excuse Master.
I hope this isn't the beginning of a dark period for HRC. They easily make the best bikes on the grid but that's not enough. You've gotta have the best people behind you too. The loss of Rossi, his crew, and most importantly Jeremy Burgess, has hurt them immensely.
They've shaken things up a lot this year but this could end up being a 'trying to find their bearings again' year. Meanwhile Yammy will come on strong and probably Ducati.

Listening to Gibernau's interview it looks like Honda might be in for a looonnngggg season. OTOH the fact that changes were being made to the 2004 bike in a haphazard fashion might have been the reason Honda shook things up for this season.

Thank G, I really enjoyed watching those.
I think Edwards is going to have a great ride with Yamaha this year, he really seems to be up for it in every sense. The prediction you made about Honda falling back into the dark ages seems more and more probable

Here's a great quote about Biaggi from another forum. Its in response to someone asking why does everyone hate him so much:
Quote:It's his sleezy frenchman moustache / goatie. While he's not French, he's an Italian that looks French. Hideous and does not deserve credit, due or not.
Send him to the player haters ball and let Silky Johnson have his way with him.

BTW, on video 3 at the end you get to hear the 'Big Bang' Kwack (Kawasaki). A big bang engine fires two cylinders at the same time so the crank firings end up being further apart (in time). This helps the tire regain traction before the next firing which improves drivability. Both the Yammy and the Honda are big bangs as well, not sure about the Ducati or Suzuki though.
