End of semester book buy back
#1
The time has come when we all sell our books back. How much have you all gotten for your books?
I spent 520 dollars this semester and got 25 back :x

Hopefully you all did better than me.

I used to go hang out for an hour or two in the bookstore during the book sale at the beginning of the new semester. I would notice which folks were buying the books that I already had - then approach them and offer a price that was cheaper than a used copy but more than I would get selling back to the school. That worked out really well - I made MUCH more money and the people who bought from me spent less too...

Gains from trade. My life is coming full circle. An actual use for the shit I'm studying in Macro. That's a good idea. Did anyone ever say anything to you like "leave"

Nope. I didn't actually bring the old books into the bookstore - just arranged to meet the folks later and finish the deal.

Man I remember when I first started college as a bio major, I spent $600+ on books and lab equipment, I ended up getting back $35 that semester. Apparently they had decided to change the text for every single class I'd taken that semester except one.

i love when they change "editions" and you're forced (by the teacher) to get the new one. for one such class i didn't buy the new edition since my sister had the old one or something so i compared with a friend who had the new one... content was identical, binding was just a different color...

fucking racket. all of college is a racket... ARGH!

On a similar note of lameness, NTC charged me $10 just to have the name switched on our cable account over to my roommate.

Amazon marketplace babee! I got my $100 law school casebooks for like $20-$40 dollars. And then I sell them back to the bookstore and get my money back...and end up taking theirs! hahaha
Of course, I keep some of my books, but at least the bookstore doesn't get my money! Big Grin

that's why when you move into a place w/ several people you should form a shell company, you put phone/elec/etc bills in the company name then at the end of the year you can 'elect' a new CEO for free, plus you can get a tax exempt ### for other purposes...
