Hi guys,
This Saturday at VIRginia International Raceway, you can go karting from 9 to 12. IÔÇÖm planning to go, but we need a few more racers to sign up. The cost is $115, which may sound steep, but the amount of track time is pretty good. The karts are comparable to the adult karts at G-Force.
IÔÇÖve done this once before. We were divided into two groups (experienced and novices), and we had three or four races each, with each race lasting about 20 minutes. It was a blast!
If youÔÇÖre interested, contact Mark Underwood at mark@underwoodgroup.com or reach him:

Jeez.... This sounds frickin' awesome - but of course almost everybody has plans this late in the game. Any chance of a schedule of later events?

Yeah, I would've been there in a second had I known earlier.
The same arrangement is available next Saturday at VIR. The fellow I mentioned, Mark Underwood, is coordinating the half-days at the track. Here are the next track dates: November 13 (Saturday) 9am-12pm and> December 4 (Saturday) 9am-12pm.
Sorry to build you up, Mike, but the karts aren't run on the raceway itself, but on a dedicated kart track, ourdoors and probably about a half-mile with thirteen turns and some elevation changes.
The karts are pretty even, although inevitably there are a couple that are hooked up and a couple that pull to one side or have some quirk. As "arrive and drive" goes, it's easy and relatively cheap. They provide driving suits, helmets, and (now I find out) neck braces (the "hourse collar" type).
I've done it twice now and will again (not next weekend, though). Contact Mark Underwood if you're interested. Or let me know directly if you have other questions.
How does the challenge and fun of driving there compare with G-Force?

The kart track at VIR has roughly the same number of turns as G-Force and is roughly twice as long, so it's approximately half as "busy." There are a couple of straights on which the karts are topped out for several seconds, and there are rumble strips and (mostly) grassy runnoffs instead of the padded walls at G-Force. The races at G-Force don't last as long, which makes every second there pretty intense (I think). The straights at the VIR kart track do give the driver a chance to relax briefly, and yet the element of elevation change and some friendly and some unfriendly curbs at VIR make both tracks technically challenging and somewhat comparable.
In case that's not clear, let me put it this way: you'd love it, Gerald!
