I wish these god-damned elections would just hurry up and end so that people would stop bitching and moaning about who has done what when where why and with whom. Jesus, go bitch on the political forums. I'm sick of reading this stupid shit on our forums. I don't even want to open new posts any more just because I don't want to have to wade through all the political bullshit that has infested every fucking thread on the forum. "Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one, but it doesn't mean we want to hear them" Am I only person that was told this when they were young? SYNOPSIS: shut the fuck up people. Talk about cars godammit (sex, women, sports, school, work are also acceptable)

its really easy to not click on a thread if it bothers you so much.
For the most part our political discussion has been confined to a couple of threads. (and it is the "lounge") Personally Im proud of the fact that our motorsports club can have an intelligent discussion about more than horsepower and rimz

If you classify the banter that has been happening here as civilized, I'd hate to see what would happen if somebody got mad. If I wanted to hear about it, I'd just go walk on campus, turn on the radio, or watch some TV.

All I'll say about this is anyone who thinks that we shouldn't go to war over oil is someone who obviously doesn't understand history. Many, many, many wars have been fought over natural resources in one way or another and more wars in the future will be fought over the same. We and the world at large are not at a point of petroleum independence just yet so to ignore the control of the world's oil supply would be foolhardy at best, disastrous at worst.
Whoever leads the United States in the future needs to seriously invest money in alternative sources of energy. I'm not talking about the token research grants they give out now, I'm talking about a multi-billion dollar program to get things rolling. Because its going to cost of billions of dollars (not to mention American lives) to fight wars over oil if we don't have any alternatives.

Diplomacy never works. oh, and while I have the floor, I'd like to re-suggest my idea of having an "Automotive" section of the forum, since we have a "Motorcycle" section. For ON-TOPIC, non-event related discussion. Then the "Lounge" would really be more like a lounge, and you could avoid it if you didn't want to see this kind of stuff and just wanted to geek out on cars.

I agree with the alternative energy source thing. The thing is, a lot of oil companies HAVE been developing these sources... look at BP for example. The thing is, they're not going to implement these efficient fuel sources for a long ass time because they don't want to lose money from oil. That's the bottom line.
IMO, the energy industry is probably going to abuse the sale of oil until it reaches a critically high cost to consumers or until there is a mega worldwide shortage. THEN they're going to drop the bomb of alternative energy sources and profit off of that. It's all about the benjamins baby, and it's our soldiers and the environment that lose heh.
