1974 Honda CB360
#1
I'm gonna copy RJ here and post up my winter project, a Honda CB360 I picked up two years ago but have done nothing with minus take it apart.

I've always wanted a little "grocery getter" project and love CB's quite a bit. the 350/360 are always fan favorites since they're light and the motors are tiny so fairly easy to work on. I think the difference between the 360 and the 350 are minimal really; the 360 replaced the 350 in '74 to combat some other options from Yamaha and Suzuki, including a slightly larger engine.

This was a craigslist find and at 300 bucks it was almost too hard to say no to. I was sans truck and trailer at the time so Dad and I got a uhaul, and some ramps and pulled this out of an older couple's shed in Waynesboro. It's amazing how heavy a little bike like this is when it's tires are dryrotted and flat and you're pushing it up a hill in wet grass.

Here she is after purchase. 11k on the clock, clean and clear title and motor turns over just fine. Rust everywhere but frame is straight. This one was decked out with all the options: Highwaybars, luggage rack and a comically massive windshield.

I tried to fix some of the spot rust on the exhaust with the Alumimum foil and water trick. It helped but... Imma need new exhaust.

I got myself a motorcycle lift and decided to go ahead and strip it down. I've been cataloguing all my parts and have gotten to the point where it needs a new everything, but eh. It's a project, sort of the point.

This picture was 1.5 years ago I think? Chrzan still lived with me and we had a cool set up with his Aprilia and my CB900f (that I shoulda never sold, damn it).

It's gutted now, everything is off. I'm working out how to get the triple tree off since it's cracked on the left hand side and I'm going to upgrade to something different anyways. The crown nut uses a special honda socket (of course) but I hear a cheap autozone 30mm socket with a few well placed dremel notches can take care of it fairly easily.

Current state is the motor is out of the frame and wheels and forks are off. I'm going to spruce the frame up and paint it. I was thinking of powder coating it but I'm thinking that may make it too heavy.

Goals on the bike? I'm going to do a modern front and rear end from some crashed out bikes I can find in a salvage yard. Still working on what to do with the triple adapter I'll need. Both of those will solve my issues with brakes and wheels, assuming the wheels are straight. I'm not doing anything crazy like r6; I'm going to see if I can source some 250's since wheels and tires should be much lighter.  Also need to continue to de-rustify the original gas tank. I've it it with a few solutions of the baking soda/vinegar soaks but I'm still seeing a lot of surface rust inside. It's better than it sounding like a maraca before with all the rusty shaking around in it.

I'll do a K&N lunch box or pod intake and of course clean the carbs and such. I got new allen head screws to put in all the covers on the motor. After I verify the motor is okay and should work fine after carbs, I'm gonna figure out how to do the classic cafe single seat pan. I also want to use the original side covers that has the 360 logo on it for a little storage space that I think would be kind of neat. The tail cowling may or may not include some sort of curved finished hardwood using a technique I learned from helping a dude build a sail boat in his basement while in college.

and they expanded their products by a huge amount, holy crap. Two years ago, you had to send everything in and it cost you like 800 bucks.
