Jake, Thank you. It felt weird not knowing his name.
Sorry Navin, I should have been specific. The P/N was for the one I pulled today, which was not correct. The one I need goes for a little bit more than that. Thanks for the tip, but don't worry, I made sure to take the negative off, hence my post about making some fireworks in my yard with a battery, a wrench, and a Miata.
Here's the list of cars with the part I need. I guess I'll make another trip to the junk yard soon just to be sure.

Supposedly Bridgestone has said that it is basically a slick with a tread pattern cut in it. I believe it now for sure with this news. Glad I'll be headed to these after my RE-11A's die out.
"Bridgestone says that this is basically a racing slick with a tread pattern cut into it to make it street legal, so it's no surprise the manufacturer claims that the RE-71R boasts better wet and dry lap times when compared side-by-side with the current Potenza RE-11A ultra-high performance tire. The RE-71R's symmetrical design is also a move away from the purposely asymmetrical RE-11 tread pattern." : http://www.cnet.com/news/tire-tech-the- ... ance-tire/
Taylor, holy shite. I'd already be pissed off. Well I know when I look for a used car to make sure basically everything it working or running. Hopefully it is driveable in June as you say it is. Keep working at it
I'm not pissed, I'm ecstatic. Being a car guy is working and bleeding for your car to be yours. This is exactly what I've wanted. Only thing slowing me down is money and when classes start, time. When I'm all done, I can look at my car and say "I did that. This is mine."
Then beat the shit out of it at an autocross.

I mean, you can't expect the world for under $2k... a sorted, needs-nothing Miata of similar vintage would easily be a $3500 car.

Going to run to town today and buy a set of "Aspen Touring A/S" tires... whatever the hell those are. Hopefully I can get my uncle to mount and balance them this weekend and then look for a shop that will pass this thing with a flashing airbag light.

Great grippy tire.
not a soft comfy sidewall by any means, but its a great track and autoX tire.
yeah... back in the stone ages  Street tires have come a LOOOONNNGGG way since the azeni.

"it's impossible to get good tires for them now"

Possible to pull fuse to disable and run through inspection? Hopefully on keyed ignition they won't notice it's not lit up (or not familiar with the car to know it should be lit?)

hell, a buddy bought a cherry 92 with 75k 10 years ago for $2500. (and that was during the height of SpecMiata craze)
I bought a 90 with 80k that needed a little work (mainly just battery) for $300, and didnt Joey buy something for $500?
I think matt got his for pretty cheap too.
spring is certainly not the ideal time to find a deal, but even so, frankly, $2k should absolutely buy a 1.6 in good (not perfect) condition with no major work needed.
Is the NA Miata OB2? If not you could pull all sorts of lights out of the dash to get it too pass?
Yeah mine was $500, needed a clutch to get it running and it should've gotten shocks and bushings but never did. I may have done a set of brakes, had a top fixed and replaced the headlight relay or something, and that's about it. Ended up in it for like $1350, sold it for $2750.
Doesn't matter if it's OBD-I the dash lights still need to cycle on with the ignition

Starting in '95..... You can't pull the lights from the dash, it'll cause an alarm to sound when the car is started........
electrical tape... cover it up

Ask the inspector if he would want an airbag from a 1992 Miata exploding in his face, and then give him 20 bucks?
Well, she's now very close to being roadworthy (according to the state of Virginia).
Picked up a set of no-name tires for less than the price of ONE of the tires on my truck.
Then, grabbed a bracket and made a license plate thing.
Test fit with my trucks tags since my custom plates haven't come in yet.
Ziptied the window up and put the door panel back on. Then, I took off the pinstripe. You're welcome.
With the airbag light, I COULD pull the bulb and risk the airbag module beeping at me, which wouldn't work. What I plan to do is see if I can find a shop to fudge it for me. I live in a small 4 stoplight town. Shouldn't be too hard to find a connection.

You don't have a stock intake on yours you want to trade for my hot air intake do you?
And you can have my window regulators if you find me some manual ones and conversion parts
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a van is a good guy with a van
My usual shop screwed me over big time with my truck, so they're out the window. The new shop I go to seems like they're very "by-the-book".
Depends on what kind of HAI you've got over there and if I find manual regulators I'm keeping them. Haha.
this is all moving too fast for me. how do i get off this ride?
looking real good man!
Don't worry. Things are going to slow down now that I don't have any days "off" until mid June. All that's left is the window, airbag light, brakes, and an inspection before anything big like suspension, roll bar, etc. All of the big stuff will have to wait a few months.
Airbag module get
Out of a JMU themed Donk?! What more could you ask for?!
