No really, if you see one within a few hundred miles of VA, please let me know. Yes, I know they didn't technically exist, so I'm looking for someone else's nice swap / conversion.

Yeah THAT is actually a pretty nice find...
More "sensible" options include that E39 and similar year Golf TDI. I'm just currently a little turned off by the 12 yr old E46 problems we are experiencing. In reality it's not like I wouldn't have to spend $1k/yr to keep a swapped E34 on the road reliably either, it's just that I feel more comfortable working on them myself. Plus, classic boxy BMW bonus! So I'll see if one pops up over the next few months, or I change my mind and stick with the Element for another year or so. :dunno:

Climate control, throttle by wire system, overcomplicated stereo are all stupid things I've had trouble with over the last 2 years. But yes, relatively minor stuff really. Keeping E34 cruise control, cooling system, AC working is probably actually worse, but I'm going to pretend for the moment that it's not. :dunno:

Have you considered a 2002? Those were pretty simple machines.
