:?:

Whats your point? You do stupid things on 2 wheels, you increase the chance of getting hurt.

The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

In all fairness, we dont know that he was going 80. No one can judge speed by sight, and if something is loud and accelerating people tend to think its going faster than it is.
He very well may have been going way too fast in a residential lot given reports of past history, but 80 does seem a bit steep.

How fast can a Katana or GSX-R get up to 80 from 25?

Well, considering it's 0-60 is somewhere around 2 and a half seconds, I'm going to guess quicker than 2 and a half seconds?

the more pertinent info is how much distance travelled does it take to reach 80mph, and is there even room to hit that speed at max accel in a residential lot

i think the accident was on a road in ashby? if so, yes, you could probably reach well in to triple digits.

If my math is right... assuming straight line acceleration, that would take about 236 feet.

3 sec to 60 mph = 4 sec to 80 mph = 4 sec @ avg of 40 mph

40 mph = 211,200 ft/hr = 59 ft/sec * 4 sec = 236 feet

Of course, there's no guarantees about my math.

I think he was travelling on port republic and hit a car at the Ashby entrance? I've heard that and he was speeding in an actual parking lot in Ashby

I know right. What is the real story? DNR got his name wrong but says he was turning into the parking lot like he was going where outpost used to be.

The DNR article ( http://www.dnronline.com/news_details.p ... 259&CHID=1 ) says the camry was turning into the parking lot behind Dave's Taverna - and the Rider was on Devon lane, so he was leaving ashby and the car turned in front of him - when the car turned, the bike probably wasnt visible, and the rider didnt have time to slow down.

At least thats the way I read it.....
