Year or two and he'll be back in GP and maybe it'll be fun to watch again. Aside from the occassional showing by Capirossi this season has been boring. Not nearly as bad as last year though.

Have you been sleeping all year Steve?
How many different race winners and pole sitters have we had? While the battle at the front has been largely the same, there's been enough variety up there and some great battles to make this a hell of a season... IMHO.

A different guy winning a race does not make the race fun to watch. It makes greater anticipation for the next race because the championship appears to be up for grabs, but that doesn't make the race itself any more fun to watch.
Aside from Capirossi and Rossi dicing it in a few races, Hayden vs Edwards in the Dutch Assen TT, KRJR torpedoing Nakano, some of these races have been brutal to watch.
But like I said, not nearly as bad as last year when the only thing fun to watch was the "Not-including-Rossi" race.

Jesus man... What does excite you, at least as far as watching motorcycle races? I'm on my feet every weekend, screaming at the TV, jumping up and down. Then the race starts, and it gets worse
My two feet.

Then what does shizzle your nizzle?
Sidecar racing? Figure 8 racing? Nascar?

Uh, a battle at the front excites me. And it hasn't happened all that often this year. That or watching Stoner, Hopper, or Edwards. They atleast ride loose enough to be fun to watch. Or when it rains, that always makes for a more entertaining time.
It's not as much fun for me when Rossi or Capirossi (individually) checks out and builds up a 10+ second lead. Yeah it's cool, but it makes for a boring ending. And for the last several races it's just been a waste of film to put Hayden on the camera, if drafting were cool he'd be Miles Davis.
And traction control can go to hell.
It's a difference in preferences. Y'all probably watch Formula 1, I think it's more boring than baseball, or NASCAR, or watching grass grow.
stevegula Wrote:Uh, a battle at the front excites me.
Like the 4 way battle up front at Sachsenring? Rossi, Capriex, Nicky, and Pudding Snack....
Quote:Y'all probably watch Formula 1
Fuck formula 1.
The Max&Bernie show have turned F1 into a damn circus.

Like I said "some of these races have been brutal to watch," not all. Specifically, it's not nearly as bad as last year.
*edit* btw, Capirossi wasn't involved in that, it was Melandri.
Moto GP has been more exciting than any other major race series out there, with WSBK coming in a close second.
AMA, F1, etc... they all put me to sleep.l

Yeah dude, what Moto GP have you been watching? Mugello and Saschenring were two incredible 3 and 4 way scraps and some of the last lap stuff like Rossi and Capirossi last weekend or the race at Assen.
I don't know how you can say TC is making the racing boring. Yeah, there are less crashes but the racing has actually been closer. You certainly can't say the racing was better in the Doohan era, you'd have to go back to Schwantz and Rainey and even then it was usually 2 or 3 man battles.

I don't argue that. Some of the WSBK races had some awesome midpack battles though. The kind you just don't see in MotoGP because you're not "supposed to fight that hard for 5th"(1). But as for AMA, I watch turn 1, maybe the first few laps, then stop the DVR and do the "Skip to End" function and see who won. I don't watch any other motorsports on TV.
1 - last season Rossi did the typical 'fuck the launch, climb from the back of the pack' thing. Melandri held him up so long he never had a shot at getting first. Rossi whined, saying Melandri never should have fought so hard to hold on to that position. And really, MotoGP doesn't typically have great mid-pack battles. If they're not fighting for the podium then a lot of times they're not fighting at all.
stevegula Wrote:The kind you just don't see in MotoGP because you're not "supposed to fight that hard for 5th"
Huh? There's been some great midpack battles with stoner (when he doesnt crash) melandri, kr, the suzuki guys (when they arent destroying rear tires), and so on.

Top 5 are 3 seconds apart, pos 7-12 are 3 seconds apart.
Many of the other races have similar results.

Yeah you just don't see the midpack battles as much because of the TV coverage, not because they're not happening.

Closer because of the bikes, not the riders.
How many people here are happy Gary McCoy is coming back? How many of those same people are going to pissed when watching him will be just like watching everyone else race?
And for fucks sake guys, I said earlier "some of these races have been brutal to watch", not all of them. You're wasting your time sitting there going "Oh yea, well this race at the 15th minute had a really cool battle." I'm sure it did, I probably saw it. But it probably didn't make the other 45 minutes not suck, or make any of the other races not suck, if they did.

I'm just trying understand how this season has been boring compared to what season? Sure, its less entertaining to not see the bikes slide as much, but I'd rather see 4 bikes fighting it out for the win than 2. And I'd rather see the championship decided on track rather than "Who highsided the least hard".

Beerfest was boring to watch, doesn't mean it didn't have a few shining moments.
