Hey all

Hey all, Finally got around to checking you all out at Org night. Meant to take a look last year but never got around to it. Anyway, my name is Chris. I'm a senior and currently living in white hall. Hope to finally get to know some car people up here in the 'burg. Also like to give a shot at some autocross  . I'll be at the meeting and plan to attend the show/dyno coming up. If any of you all need some help wrenching, I don't mind helping out.

I am currently driving my '91 Firebird 305 up here. Mods are as followed: 5spd swap, 3.23 posi, tpi cam and heads, 350 injectors, k&n open element, and hooker catback (hopefully some headers real soon). Also going to be doing some prom burning soon if anyone has any advice on that.

Hey, welcome to the club. I used to see your Firebird all the time last year when I lived in White. You should come out to the auto cross in Verona on Sunday (thread about it in the events section). Hope to see you at the first meeting!

thanx for the comments. I'm going to check out the autox thread now.

As far as the 305, its descent. Pulls good on the low but is lacking up high. Lots of lowend torque. I tried a gtech on it and it pulled 210hp at the rear wheels. Interested to see what it pulls on the dyno. Havn't done a whole lot of mods since it is my daily driver at the time.

I seriously doubt a chip is going to do much for that car. May surprise me though. I had a 305 in my 86 monte, probably almost the identical motor as that one. The 305's in the montes were the same as the ones in the firebirds/camars of the time. Also, nice camaro..pretty sure those rims are MCSS rims that have been painted..looks cool.

I agree, it probally won't do anything as far as performance. I'm just trying to improve driveabilty if that makes sense. It idles at about 500 which was fine with the auto but makes it a pain in the ass with the stick. And for some reason, it will randomly stall up here but never does back home. Who knows but the whole point is that I'm trying to increase the idle since it is controlled by the comp. If you adjust it at the throttle, the computer will just adjust it back down by messing with the fuel or timing. From what I have been able to find out, the chip is the only way to increase it. Just looking to get it at 650. Besides, if the CS department is making me learn fortran, I might as well learn about the old obd1 Big Grin

The wheels on the camaro are my fav. They were yanked from an 80z28. I believe they were used on all 80-81 z28s as well as the ss montes. If I remember right, someone told me there was something different about the z28's and monte wheels but they look identical to me.

BTW, love to see the ride sometime.

There are some pictures of my car in the "Official just washed and waxed" thread or something like that if you browse in the "appearance and cosmetics" section. Also, I've got a smallblock you should swap into that camaro, lol. It needs rebuilt but it'd be a good long block to start with.
