I leave mine on all the time. My rational is that even if someone gets pissed off, at least they saw me. Most of the bikes I see on the road down here also have their high beams on during the day. On my way to work today, someone actually got out of their car at a stop sign to come yell at me for having it on. I made the mistake of actually trying to explain why it was a good idea, but they weren't swayed at all - finally I just closed my shield and rode off.
So, I'm curious - during the day, do you ride with it on or off?

I ride with it off, but I'm not always the most safety conscious fellow. I think those folks that do have it on are doing something good. You could look into a headlight modulator if you really want to make sure people see you.

On all the time. Turned it on about a year ago and never looked back.
In my MSF course in '96 the instructor told us to leave it on during the day and use oru best judgement at night - and that's exactly what I do. I get people flashing me (with their headlight) occasionaly but at least I know I'm being seen.

I leave it on during the day, during the night-time it's a case by case basis. I will say when riding with others I tend to turn it off so as not to blind them when they're leading. I was riding home with Jason the other day and finally I just pulled off to the side and waved him by because his brights were blinding the shit out of me.

being seen doesnt matter if you blind another driver and he hits you. not a big issue during the day, but not a good idea at night

day or night i usually have mine off. If i'm in traffic or at a traffic light behind someone with a lower car with direct view right into my headlights i turn it off. Once i start riding i turn it back on though.

the only argument i have against that is if two riders are together and they both have their low-beams on where one is significantly ahead of the other rider. Some drivers have poor depth perception and fail to see that there are two vehicles and think it's a car. I've had this happen before and now i keep my high-beam on unless i'm directly behind someone.

My visor was a lil foggy cause I hadn't cleaned it properly I guess, so your brights were just reacting with it poorly. Plus it all depends on the person's lights.

if i rode, i'd probably ride with it on, but depending on the situation i'd most likely leave it off. then again, the HID's on the STi have adjustable levels, and i leave them on the highest position at all times. it probably pisses other drivers off, but i dont care.

If riding in a group I think it's proper courtesy to leave your highbeam off unless you're the lead rider. Even if you've got an 80's style headlight it's obnoxious to have riders behind you with their high beams on at night because the light reflects off your mirror directly into your field of view (*cough* RJ).
During the day, it's all fair game. You're not going to blind anybody when the sun is up and it's better to be seen and a nuisance to other drivers than not seen and dead.

Would you rather have a driver blinded by the glare go head-on into your lane? Or just someone who doesnt see both bikes (and doesnt matter, because they stay in their lane anyway)

I was nearly run off the road on friday and into a 6' dirt wall (no shoulder) as I was going through great falls by a fucking SUV that was all the way in my lane as I came around a blind turn........ stupid whore on her goddamn cell phone... At least I am not angry about it.
