Rally at X-games

Quick video of Colin McRae at the X-games. Pretty neat having Rally going so public.. cool event, unbelievable driver. Surprise at the end... Rally cars can take a licking and keep on ticking.

Yeah that really went well for the first time they had it. Colin almost won even with the roll. He flat out smoked Pastrana on the tarmac section.

Really, that was the first high profile Rally event ever in the United States. Sure there's Pike's Peak but I don't think that comes close in terms of exposure. Hopefully the event will attract some more international drivers. How bad ass would it be to have Petter Solberg or Marcus Gronholm drop on in? Or even Rossi.

Yea. Was pretty interseting to see Rally at such a venue as the X-games. The fans seemed really receptive to it so perhaps more interest will grow. It will be interesting to see if this type of publicity will begin some sort of stadium type rally event and draw in a bigger crowd into this type of motorsports in the United States. I agree, if some international drivers could get involved than the possibilities are endless with the amount of competition and skill level... Colin was in a league of his own out there.

That was a jaw dropped if there ever was one. He was only a second back with the roll... damn.

I'd like to see rally get big over here. It's such a diverse, technical sport that I never get bored watching it.... oh, and it just looks fucking cool, too.
When it comes to Ryan Jenkins, the story ends with me putting him in the wall.

Rally is here to stay in the X-games for sure. I think that roll made it more exciting to the non-motorsport person than MotoX big air.

what I really like about that coverage is that you get to see colin drive the entire course and set up for each corner, and the skill that it takes to not just drive a single corner but drive multiple linked corners. you dont get to see that with regular wrc coverage

if you compare pastrana to mcrae you can really see how mcrae uses the whole track in the tarmac section. pastrana needs to do some road racing :p

Yeah you could definitely see where Colin was tracking out farther than Travis. Colin was also doing a lot less unnecessary sliding than Pastrana was. Who knows, maybe we'll see Pastrana at a NASA track day one of these days Tongue

No way. Pastrana's double back flip video is all over the internet and people are talking about it everywhere. Colin's roll was definitely one of the highlights but without a doubt the double backflip was the defining moment of this Summer's X-Games.
