Yeah that doesnt exactly seem correct to me either...feel free to explain.

So if Im going twenty mph and pass you while your at a light, and then you go 100 mph when the light turns green you will never catch me? Assuming we both travel the same road and neither of us changes speeds once we hit the speed above...

Maybe that was sarcasm, but its early in the morning so bare with me Tongue

Assuming Kaan and the officer BOTH stay at the legal posted speed limit, the officer will never catch Kaan. At least, I'm assuming our esteemed muscle car enthusiast collegue was assuming both traveling at the legal limit. I assume this because this whole thing was spawned from the cop saying "I had to speed to catch you!!!11one!" Of course he did, because Kaan was not breaking the law, following the posted speed limit, and therefore the officer would be required, by the laws governing our understanding of space/time to exceed the speed limit.

On the other hand, maybe pushrods fried his brain?

all cops have to speed to catch their "criminals" so i guess that's kind of irrelavent, lol.

i really hope this works out for you, this might be a case where you're found guilty when you actually are innocent.... :?

then i'll appeal it. I'm completely serious about exhaust all the resources i have to fight this shit. Traffic court falls short of "justice" as described by the constitution. Its a money maker, thats all it is... guilty or not, they dont care. its all about the money. I know how it works, i've been in the court room enough times... i've watched how fast the guys without lawyers get worked if they dont have their "A" game that day. Trust me i'm going to go in there prepaired.

with a simple equation of Ave. Speed = distance traveled/time taken.... and the fact that we traveled 1/4 mile... and the "time" it takes for the crown vic to do 1/4 mile... if i were doing anything over the speed limit he would never have caught me at all.

45mph for 1/4 mile = 20 seconds.
crown vic = 17.8 1/4 time @80mph.

if anything i was doing less than the speed limit... unless he can out drag the Car and Driver guys... from behind a neon on gravel and around a corner.

Man, you guys! I'll just have to explain it with some charts at a meeting or track event or something. It's clearly bogus, but the facts behind it are true. Maybe only math/physics majors get it, I dunno ;x

Well let me break it down for you, Bagg.

1. They said I wasn't billing enough time.
2. I wasn't asking for work when I had nothing to do.
3. They could tell I didn't want to be there.
4. The Environmental assessment business is slowing down.
5. I was apparently expendable.
6. I think they straight up did not like me.
7. Management wanted me to stay longer than 40 hours a week.
8. I would leave the office at 4:30pm when I had gotten there at 8am. They had a problem with this.

Hopefully this whole experience I will learn from and something more better will come of it.

sorry to hear things didn't work out. you're in DC, there are plenty of opportunities though.

get used to doing more than #7 and #8 is pretty much unrealistic once you get settled into a job that is apparently more enjoyable than this (because it sounds like you basically didn't like being there and made little effort to conceal this)

So you are saying people are expected to work more than 40 hours a week without being compensated? I should have taken hour long lunches instead of half hour long lunches?

here's the basics of it - replace predator/prey with cop/kaan, and step size with tire revolutions per minute or whatever floats your boat.

haha, no man. sorry if i misunderstood but it sounded like you just plain didn't like the idea of working more than 40 hours a week. if they aren't compensating you then yes, that doesn't sound right.

as i said before, you'll find another job soon enough. at least you got some experience and some money in the bank.

well I got to read over all but the proof, which Ill read at work, but IIRC what you're saying does not apply do travel on this planet (which is mentioned in the paper). Our movement is type 2 in his paper, as he says, and thus the prey can always be caught by the predator, since he asserts that prey on planets such as type 2 and 3 can always be caught.

But maybe im missing part of it, since I certainly didnt get to take more than a quick glance at it. Ill read it over at work and post.

Here's the key:

Bunch of Math Professors Wrote:Let us imagine a planet on which creatures move by jumps of increasing length.

Now, while you could argue that the predator made "jumps of increasing length" because he was accelerating towards Kaan, Kaan was, for all intents and purposes, at his maximum stride (the speed limit).

I hate to break it to the two of you but 40+ hour work weeks are standard in most industries. If you're a salaried employee it doesn't matter if you work 60 hours or 40 you get paid for 40, unless you luck out and your company is one of the few that will to OT for salaried employees. You stay as long as it takes for the work to get done. I've had 80+ hour work weeks at times in the past. Talk to Evan, that kid pretty much always has 60 hours a week or more.

Some employers will allow you to use the stuff as comp time, but that is a case by case basis.

As for the expecting you to stay more than 8 hours in a day, again, if there's work that needs to be done to meat a deadline expect to stay more than 8 in a day.
