Just what the doctor ordered.....
#1
I was invited to a private tour of Dr. Fred SimeoneÔÇÖs car collection. Dr. Simeone is neurosurgeon based out of Philadelphia, PA. He has a collection of around 40 vintage sport and race cars. He likes to keep the cars in an original state (he doesnÔÇÖt believe in restoring them). One of my coworkers picked me up in D.C. where we drove to Tillson Motorcars (http://www.tillsonmotorcars.com/index2.asp) to meet up with the rest of the guys. Walking around the shop was incredible, two E-type Jags being worked on a couple 356 cabriolets, an Aston martin DB2, older Ruf turbo, 2 BMW 507s (one of which he ran at Mille Miglia) ya know, the usual stuff. We met up with another doctor type guy, a younger guy that is one of the head guys at Subaru NA, a Porsche/Audi dealer, an investment banker out of NYC, some other rich dudes and Dave Olimpi (http://www.daveolimpiautomobiles.com/). Anyway we jump into our cars and head into Philli (I rode up in the new Audi Q7 ÔÇô it was nice, nothing different than any other new Audi). The first thing I thought of when I saw the DoctorÔÇÖs garage, was MMÔÇÖs last trip to the Ferrari Challenge shop and how it was a completely plain building from the outside. Any passerby would never know what goodies were on the other side of the brick wall.

ON TO THE GOOD STUFF (keep in mind, this collection is very different then the one Goodspeed saw, there are no real road cars, only race cars) ÔÇô unfortunately they are in the process of getting a book together about the collection, so I canÔÇÖt give you the details on all the cars, but it would be safe to assume that they all have some sort of racing significance. I swear almost all the cars won some sort of event, be it LeMans, the Mille Miglia, etc. or were raced by Sterling Moss, Phil Hill, etc.

One of the collection's oldest race cars is this 1921 Dusenberg. Jay Leno and his
mechanic were trying to identify its history last month and think that it may have
raced at Le Mans in 1923 or 1924

absolutlely love it. He has the same taste in vintage sports cars as I do. 60s sports cars and lemans cars are definately my favorite.

One subtle correction, thats not a MKIV GT40, the MKIV had a redone body with the more porsche-esque bubble headlights
[Image: gt40mk4.jpg]

If that car did win at Lemans, it would have to be a MKII.
The MKIs that won Lemans were all Gulf cars and the MKIII was never raced.

Regardless, beautiful automobile. I dont want to think about how much it is worth. One of , (if not my one) all time favorite

The lights on that car actually make me think that it was one of the MKIII road cars

Most of the time, I absolutely hate rich guy car collections but this guy has taste. I'm truly impressed. God, he probably has a Ferrari 250 GTO.

Yeah I figured it wouldn't - the porsche/audi dealer brought the Q7.

That's so sweet man. I can see his reasoning for not restoring them persay, but brovahman could at least give them a wash and wax! That's a 4 and a half million dollar Shelby covered in 4 and a half pounds of warehouse dust! =/
