I'd be down for a Europe car trip. Isle of Man sounds like an incredible trip that I'd easily drop a couple grand for. Any euro trip based around a trip to the 'ring sounds like something I'd be interested in as well.
I also like the idea of splitting rent on a cayman or something for a day or two in CA. I wish I'd know my schedule this summer for a little longer than next week. This int'l travel thing on a two days notice is nutty.
I like the ideas so far. Keep 'em coming.

Mexico is:
1) Close
2) Cheap (in the scheme of international travel)--hell, you could drive down...
3) No passport required
4) Warm and sunny in the winter (time of WRC event)
5) Rally spectating is quite an adventure...

A few of us CCVT guys go every year and we should have a good sized group heading down next year. ALMS rocks, huge party, etc., etc... Most of the big players in ALMS debut their cars at Sebring too.
We'd love to have some MM guys join us.
Oh, and I was at the 24 hours of Le Mans this year, and while I had a blast and I would go back in a heart beat, I have to admit that I have more fun at Sebring.
BTW a few of us CCVT guys are going to try and get a trip together for Le Mans in two years because the group of English guys I met up with this year only go every two years and they rocked. It is nice having multiple grills, tons of beer and food, and a refigerator for COLD beer (a rare thing over there). It would be difficult to bring that stuff over on a plane. lol

I'd vote for a VIR trip since the very first MM outing (of sorts) was the Motorola Cup at VIR that Chan, Gerald and I hit up prior to MM's official formation. (ya'll remember that?)
A reunion event, of sorts....
oh and Rob, don't blame "wife/girlfriend, etc obligations" for not taking a Europe trip, I'd love to hit up the F1 race at the Nurburgring...

I know you guys are going to roll your eyes, but I plan to see a NASCAR race while I'm in the state where it all began. I know they just turn left, but it would be a new experience for me, and it's car related, so there you go. Lowe's Motor Speedway, here I come!

Correct on all counts. Same with the Baja 1000, except that I'd like to compete in the 1000 one day.

Le Mans in 2 years sounds like a good idea, especially since there should be 2 or 3 new players in the LMP classes by then (Honda, Mazda, and Porsche).

Guess you guys got a new webboard since last I was on there. I'll register later.
I take it you guys did the RV thing? Were there a lot of spring breakers there? When we crewed for Bimmerworld we really didn't see that many folks our age out there, but then again we left after the World Challenge Touring race.

Yeah, we got a new forum last semester.
We decided against the RV mainly to save money, plus none of us had anything against camping. Last year six of us drove down in a Mazda3 and a Honda Accord. I actually ended up sleeping in the driver's seat of the Mazda3 and it was suprisingly comfortable, lol.
There are tons of people our age partying in green park, which is where we camp. It seemed like there were quite a few local people there just for the party, probably on spring break.
The past two years we left Blacksburg Wednesday night, drove through the night and arrived at the track early Thursday afternoon. And we leave right after the race ends on Saturday night so we are back in time for people to get school stuff or whatever done on Sunday afternoon. Except for being really REALLY tired on the drive back, this plan seems to work very well.
The first thread I posted gives a good rundown of what we do, how we do it, and how much everything costs.
TONS of fun.

That all changes next year - passports will be required for air travel to Canada and Mexico. Beginning of 2008 passports will be required for land travel to and from those destinations.
If you all choose to do the Baja 1000, count me in... I'll be only a few hours away.
