Just bought a Ferrari....sort of
#1
I have a habit of collecting rare and hard to find things, so here is my latest purchase....

As you may know (or not, I have my secrets) the Ferrari F50 is my ultimate favorite supercar. Though its not the fastest, nothing else compares to it in my mind...I believe it to be the ultimate supercar because of the sheer amount of F1 technology in it. I also believe it to be the most beautiful thing made my gods own hands. Pity i'll never own one....so I decided to buy the closest thing to it, the Tamiya 1/12 Scale diecast F50 display model.

I actually decided to buy it three years ago, but it has taken me until today to find one and buy it. They are VERY rare, and currently discontinued by Tamiya. They are perfect down to the last detail, with heat treated paint, metal springs, working everything and they are a true collectors item. When it comes to car models, there really isn't anything "better" than a Tamiya 1/12. Heres some pics of the model I bought....note the miniature luggage and Ferrari toolset included. Can't wait to get it. I'm so anal, i'll treat it as if it were the real thing

that rocks man, i love Tamiya stuff. I've owned a Tamiya 1/10 scale RC touring car and i have a 1/24 scale supra JGTC model and the attention to detail in both is killer. are you going to get a display case for your new ride?

cool! So what'd that cost you? Even the brake and caliper(s) look pretty good! The suspension isn't actually functional on that thing is it? It kind of looks as if it could be....

Its about 15 inches long, and yeah I plan on getting an acrylic display case for it. I've had three Tamiya RC cars/trucks over the years, and yeah they are second to none, amazing quality stuff. I believe the suspension is functional to some extent. The best part is, I paid a little over $200 for it, found a small hobby store in Florida that had only one in stock, so I bought it! I'm really glad, I doubt you'd be able to find another red one, new in box, in the country!

They go anywhere from ~330 to 500 dollars (stupid ebay) usually. They stopped making the red version for some reason, so they are very sought after and collectible. Theres a whole 1/12 scale collectors club thing, in fact Tamiya just released their Enzo model, with a special 200 unit run signed by Mr. Tamiya himself. I don't want to know how much that costs!
