So, I was thinking it might be better to ride out there and ship the bikes home, rather than ship the bikes ahead of time and ride back - in case there are any hassles or delays shipping the bikes.

Just talked to the Laguna Seca folks. The RV camping area will be $135 for the weekend. We'd be guaranteed a spot but selection of spots is first come first served. We can set up shop as early as 7am on Thursday.

The location (Archery camping area) is less than half mile from Turn 2 (the first hairpin). There is a shuttle service from the camping area to the track.

I'm going to give the RV place another call today to see how things work out with my HRCA discount and to maybe shop a little on price. Once I get some more info I'll set some commitment dates so we can get our deposit together.

OK, I checked out the prices with Cruise America along with my HRCA discount and it came out to be less than the original quote we had gotten. For a 5 person RV (C-25' class) it comes out to $733.74 for all 4 nights (Thursday-Monday).

4 people: $183.44/person
5 people: $146.75/person

We'll need to put down a $300 deposit to make our reservation. They're about 2/3rds booked for our dates already so we need to get moving like pronto.

Thus, I'm going to set January 10th, as the last day to get a confirmed slot on the RV. Right now we have 3 confirmed people, and the RV sleeps 5 so the last two need to get in.

If we get 6 people who are DEFINITELY going then we need to decide whether we're gonna squeeze in or move up to the larger RV (My vote is larger RV). 7 people would mean we'd have to get the larger RV. The larger RV (C-30') would be $889.25 for all 4 nights. The breakdown:

6 people: $148
7 people: $127
8 people: $116

There is a $500 damage deposit that we pay when we pick up the RV and get back when we return it.

So we need to get committment at this point. No waiting around, January 10th is D-Day. Even sooner than that would be better. So I have 4 confirmed so it will be $75 each for the reservation deposit. If we get a 5th person then I'll refund $15 to everyone and it'll be $60 each.

Ok, the camp site has been purchased and I have put down the deposit on the RV. The pickup point is only 5 minutes from the airport. There are still plenty of seats on the JetBlue flight John and I are taking so you could even get seats on our row (11).

Now all we gotta figure out is where we're gonna get a disposable grill
