Taking bets: what did Gerald buy
#1
RJ Wrote:well i hadnt heard from him in 2 days, and chaddock called me... i asked "hey have you heard from G?" and said G was on the road somewhere... so I call G but he wouldnt tell me anything other than he was on 66, in his truck, with the trailer attached
he said he'd post pics when he got home

So, since G didnt ask anyone or tell anyone, its a pretty damn sure thing that its a bad idea. About as sure as the sun is going to come up tomorrow.
So, who is taking bets?

You'd have to make the DDWGWD bracelets green with a Mr Yuk on them.

I do the same thing sometimes, but I don't really intend for them to be secrets. A few reasons for not telling folks prior are:

1. I have enough pressures and questions going on and I don't want to have the additional indrect pressure of living up to what everyone thinks the experience will be

2. A little supersticious, but I don't want to "jynx" the expereience either by sheir bad luck or building it up to more than it will be and then being let down.

3. If I screw up, I don't have 50 people asking me how I screwed up ;-).

4. Maybe G thought that if he posted that he was goign to spend $600 on a course people would have joked on him about other unfinished projects (that in reality most of us have anyhow). Ex Post Facto there's not much we can say other than "cool! You're still alive!"

5. Lastly, had G turned himself into a dark spot on the pavement, he wouldn't have that last milisecond thoguht of "so this is why so many people told me not to. ;-)"

yea, I don't get it either, I mean, its a hobby, you do it to have fun and part of that fun for me is sharing it with other people. However lots of people like to keep everything a secret, I guess I have to keep so many of them I'd rather not try and keep my hobby a secret as well.

I didnt think he kept it a secret because he wanted to hide what he was doing, just to build up excitement - look at the title to G's thread same thing - not being secretive jsut more dramatic i guess

Secrecy?

Reason 1: To make things a surprise. Surprises are fun.
Reason 2: I have many, many evil schemes and I don't like to talk about them until I know I can make it happen. So for instance, the Superbike School is just one piece of a larger plan that doesn't involve racing per se but it would be cool if I could pull it off.
Reason 3: Sometimes I don't need to hear other people doubt what I'm trying to do beforehand. I have enough doubts of my own.

That is the most obscene thing I've seen in a long long time man and I personally don't think it's appropiate for this forum.
