2 Bikes Stolen in Ashburn
#1
Just got word from a coworker of mine that when he arrived home to his condo last night in Ashburn at 4am both his brother's and his motorcycles were no-where to be seen. I'll get pics and more details later to update this, but be on the lookout for:

'05 Red R1 - Stock

'06 Black 636 - Stock except for SENNA stickers on it

I realize that these bikes are not exactly unique, so it'll be hard to track them down, but if you see someone selling one of the two dirt cheap, or see parts being sold dirt cheap please let me know.

Just wanted to get the word out and the eyes of riders open. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Yes, parked outside in the parking lot, they don't have a garage. Just reaffirms my decision to leave my bike parked inside Allsports until I have full access to a garage closer to home.

Not an option at my current place, but after this fiasco with the police shootings and the shooter living 5 doors up from me my landlord is contemplating moving us to another of her rentals since her daughter and granddaughter are living with me. Who knows might be an option at the new place.

i mean, hell, a back yard/fenced in yard would be a better solution then leaving it in a parking lot outside.

was it guarded by cars or blocked in by cars? (that's how i used to park my GS500)

Anyway, here is the whole story. I am only relaying this to you guys so you don't fall victim to the same scenario. Just to let you know, I now owe $10,649 on a bike in which I will more then likely never see again. I'm only 22 and don't make boatloads of cash, so call this a SETBACK. PS- next time your insurance agent asks if you want "comprehensive" insurance on your new bike, for the love of god say "YES!", regardless of the price. Anyhow, it was monday night around 12AM and I was leaving the house to go visit a friend that night. I walked downstairs and noticed a white spot on my windscreen. I then noticed it was bird sh*t and said to myself, "I'll have to clean that off when I get to work tomorrow." I return home at approximately 3:30am to realize that not only my bike, 2006 black Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 had been taken but my brothers bike which was parked right next to mine was gone as well. 2005 dark red Yamaha YZF-R1 (he was asleep at the time). Guys, I'm not gonna sit here and cry about how distraught I am and how agonizing this experience has been for me. That part is over. I have to face reality and the reality is that I am victim to bike theft. I live in Ashburn, VA. I thought the bikes were safe right in front of my house...

Now, my stupidity-
No alarm, no Lo-Jack, no chain, no form of theft prevention at all. The bike was purchased BRAND new 1/26/06 and only had 479 miles on it. I was had planned to get the bike serviced this wednesday (yesterday) and with that, I was going to inquire about Lo-Jack because I was told that Loudoun Motorsport is now installing and selling systems. Too late.

Please guys, as one fellow (former) biker to another keep a look-out for these bikes. There is a big possibilty they have already been stripped to the bone and sold for parts, but there is some hope left they are in tact. It is the least I can ask for. Particularly my bike, the Kawasaki is not too common around this area. At least not in black. I have never seen one. If you do see it, the decals are more then likely not present on the bike. I took all of them off and put "Senna" decals on them so I'm sure it would be solid black. The Yamaha is a bit more common, but none the less just as heartbreaking.

Now the final word (if you are a criminal/thief, this is for you):
You will never understand how hard a decent human being has to work his ass off in order to finally afford the one thing that he loves. I give more credit to my brother because he is a motorcycle fanatic, more-so then myself. The only real reason I bought the bike was to enjoy quality time with him and ride when we both find the time. I was only fortunate enough to go riding ONCE with him, ever. But that single memory will live on in my mind forever. This is no laughing matter. I can not tell you how angry it makes me that someone would just strip this away from us. In a matter of minutes $30,000 of property is taken away from us by some undeserving prick(s). Every time I think about this matter it makes me want to cry. It is so depressing that this happens. Even when it's right under your nose.

Again, the description of the bikes are as follows:
(I will try to post pictures up, too.)

Black 2006 Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 with NO factory decals on it. Only MV Agusta "Senna" stickers on the side and a small Brazil flag above the license plate. Last 5 digits of the VIN: 30615

Dark Red 2005 Yamaha YZF-R1 completly stock. Last 5 digits of the VIN: 14582

Please keep a lookout. If you have any questions or details please contact me at DTorresF1@yahoo.com or at (571)241-4470. Thanks again guys.

I'm sorry but I don't see how someone who doesn't "make buttloads" of cash decides to buy a sticker bike, not insure it and then park it outside with no theft deterrant. I mean seriously.... theft sucks for anyone but his decisions got him in that the tough spot he's in.

Nevermind the 500 miles in 3.5 months.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

He's not denying that it's his own decisions that made it quite easy for whoever stole the bikes to do so, and that his decision not to put comprehensive on the bike makes a sucky situation worse, but none of that changes the fact that what happened to him and his brother truly sucks.

This posting isn't to drum up sympathy for him, or to drum up money, it's just to have fellor riders and others in the area be on the lookout just in case they haven't been parted out and are being ridden in the area.

I locked up my 500R and chained it to my Buick, the dude could have done that. It is real sad though... Sad

given that the chances of getting the bikes back now are slim to none, but I just saw this today...

i saw this on DCSB.net and .com today as well. It really sucks that he had his bike stoeln and that's why i have comprehensive insurance on my bike.

I hope something turns out for the better for him. $10k+ is a lot to pay back for his ill-advised decision regarding the safety of his bike.

What's funny in a warped kind of way is that he's probably going to just finance another bike. We were talking at work the other night and he says to me "I'm probably just going to finance another bike, probably the same bike actually, and I'll just trick myself into thinking that my monthly payment is just for the one bike".

$21k+ financing for a 636...PLUS comprehensive insurance on it? :hammer:

I find it odd that the bike in financed and he had the option to "not" get comp. My bike is financed too, and I *have* to have comprehensive.

Matt, the dude in the second picture, is his name also 'Matt'? He looks a LOT like someone I use to work with but he was in the Baltimore area last I talked to him.

I don't get the no full coverage either, weird. I'd probably just default on the loan at this point and tell the repo man to come get it!

he might have taken out a personal loan instead. I did this to avoid collision coverage that would've cost me close to $2k/year. I was also kind of wondering this b/c it sounds like he did this through a dealer.

If you finance it through the factory then you don't have to carry comprehensive/collision coverage. If you finance through a bank then you do.
