The Shelby GT350 rental car is back

How cool is this, I remember hearing about the original GT350 being rented, and most of them coming back with bald tires and visible numbers on the doors.

Best of all? They come in MM colors only

Rent a Racer. One of my friends at work has a original GT350 which was a Hertz rental in the 60's. It is black/gold and was originally a 4-speed car. He knows which # of the 1000 it was, I will ask him. It was an automatic when he bought it but he thought the brake pedal was very small...then he lifted the carpet and found the clutch tucked away. So he converted it back to 4-speed. I'll get some pics of it sometime...it is a dust POS settin in his garage.

I read somewhere that Hertz tried the same gig with Shelby Dodges... not as popular. You could rent a CSX...which is still pretty badass.

I can guaran-damn-tee you that you have to be 30 to rent such a thing from Hertz. As we found out the hard way standing in Charles De Gaul Airport trying to get the car I had reserved.

so what? its a rental. and hopefully, available in 5 speed.
I wonder how expensive it will be. My guess is $150-$200 / day. it would be perfect for track events in other parts of the country

What do you mean so what? Well, ford is coming out w/ a Shelby Mustang that will make over 500hp. I'm going to guess 95% of the people that go to rent one of these Hertz 'Shelbys' will think it is that.

And do you really think they are going to rent them w/ 5 speeds?? Come on.

You can already rent Mustang GT's, not from Hertz, but you can, this Shelby thing is just a marketing gimick.
