Dyno Vid of my Brother's 93 RX-7!
#1
This is a vid of my brother Rich dynoing his 1993 R1 RX-7.
Mods: Streetported 13B w/2mm 2 piece oem seals and too much overlap, BNR Stage 3 Parallel Twins, Tanabe Coilovers, Fikse FM5s (255f, 275r), Catz HIDs, Intake, full exhaust (PFS), and lots of other goodies.

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?fileid=32A0CB94-880A-4E8C-B87C-069349BD885A">http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.asp ... 9349BD885A</a><!-- m -->

My brother is also a part owner of Gotham Racing (gothamracing.com) out in Kaline, TX. The car was tuned by Steve Kan. The first couple of runs resulted in 366 rwhp @13.5 psi, with the last being 421 rwhp @17.5 psi. My brother is the 2nd owner this car and it is def one of the cleanest 7s I have seen.

By the way, this is a dyno that measures the hp at the hub, not the wheels (have to take the wheels off)
Also the shop owner said that multiple people that have dynoed here have taken their car to a Dyno Jet and saw a 5% increase of hp at the rear wheels.
So the car is def. has the potential to make 440-450 rwhp.

Enjoy!

Whatever, you're just hating because you don't have boost anymore.

How has that FD been reliability wise now that its heavily modified? I assume he's fixed all of the typical weak points of the car.

and people ask me why I never post on this forum, wow what a great example.

G.Irish- my brother has had the car since 1999 and is the 2nd owner. Since then he has done all of the basic reliabily mods, and yes his car runs pretty good considering it is pretty modified.

If you would like more info on the car, this is his website-
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.cardomain.com/ride/375434">http://www.cardomain.com/ride/375434</a><!-- m -->
The car has obviuosly been modfied/changed since then (website not updated)

Ah yes, JDM front end, classy.

I like this line: "The FD was parked in his heated and carpeted garage in PA next to a 1984 Porsche 911. The funny thing is that after I had given him a deposit on the 7, he offered me the Porsche for the same price! His wife was making him sell one of his toys, and at the last minute he decided he wanted the FD over the 911. I told him thanks, but no thanks."

It seems like anyone who sells a sports car gets seller's remorse at the last second.

So has he taken it to the strip with the new mods? It says he could do 12.7 at 368 whp on street tires so maybe high 11's with drag tires and 420+?

ya, lol I remember my brother telling me that story. With is new turbos, ya I think he would be able to off mid-high 120mph w/ a mid-hign 11s. Traction would be a little bit of a problem w/ street tires, but I think getting a good launch is what he would have to focus on. But to answer your question, no he hasn't taken it to the 1/4 track yet and I don't know if he will. He likes road racing a lot more and is pretty confident of what his would do in the 1/4. I mean power to weight ratio of his car is around the same as a Ford GT (if he runs 17.5 psi), which traps high 120s in the 1/4.

What tracks does he run at, he's in TexASS right? I know there was some new one that just went up around there somewhere (Motorsports Ranch?) but as far as I remember all they have is TWS and TMS.

No seriously...no fire?

I mean it's cool and all, but I thought all dyno vids had flames erupting from the exhaust.

Heck, even Jacks' FC spit a little off throttle.

Hey- ya my brother doesn't live in TX anymore, retired from the Army. But I know he did road race his car at VIR and at MSR if I am not mistaken. Here is a link if you guys wanna see pics: (the other red R1 is my dad's and by the way, my bro is selling his black vert that is in those pics)
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=356888&highlight=pics">http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t ... light=pics</a><!-- m -->

And no unfortunatley he doesn't have any track vids, but here is a collection of a badass RX-7 that's fully preped for the track tearing it up on VIR:
