comparing brands

I'm shopping around for future purchases and was wondering how you guys feel about certain brands for different items (seats, harnesses, etc). I know we've gone over this a few times but I don't remember anything specific to the Sabelt brand. I'm curious about the quality of these seats, mostly the Indianapolis Seat and the Racer Seat:

also this Pista Seat by OMP:

I hope those SA seats are good. They are really inexpensive. I also looked at the sparco seats and they're almost 200 bucks cheaper than OG Racing. Does shipping from the UK cancel out the savings?

as long as you sit in them and they have the appropriate rating, go for it. i've found a lot of the cheap seats just feel awful.

rallynuts was still $150 cheaper after shipping (which was around $100 IIRC)

personally Im not a label whore. I use Gforce harnesses that have been fantastic, and every bit as good as sparco bling that cost 2x as much. The new Gforce PRO line actually looks to be quite a bit better than the other stuff in fact. When my harnesses are up for replacement in the spring thats what I will be buying. (btw Ill have 2 sets of 2 year old harnesses for sale cheap if anyone wants em)

I'd be interested.

Also, in terms of etiquette/ethics, would it be a dick move to have a nice seat for the driver and a entry level seat for the instructor? E.G. sparco for you, corbeau for them.

thats kinda what I'm thinking too. From what I understand, its up to the instructor if he feels safe. I figured as long as its a decent seat and still has the same harness (6pt) it would be ok.

oh and Evan, I'd be interested too if they are 6pt.

not at all. both are rated to the same safety standards. that is what most people do... i'm a whore for the bling and cannot stand having two different seats so you'll likely see me with two evos Tongue

Is there an online resource for safety stuff? Tests, reviews and installation guides etc. etc?

But the newer Sparco belts are now FIA certified (as well as SFI) so they are good for 5 years instead of 2.

currently, i have my sparco pro2k in my miata and the stock seat for the passenger. with a roll bar and proper harness configurations, would a stock seat be cool as a passneger seat? i have yet to be the instructor, and this has never really come up, so i'm curious to see what you all think.

you're beyond the point of having instructors so you can get away with it, but most instructors won't step inside a car rigged that way.
