hurricane Wilma now weakened to a strong cat. 4. should roll over Florida heading N.E. on monday.

what is going on this year!? i thought Wilma had fizzled out to nothing, and i wake up this morning and it's a cat. 5! crazy.

The crazy thing will be when they start naming the hurricanes after the Greek Alphabet. After 26 they start with Alpha. Friend of mine lives in Naples, FL on the Gulf, hopefully she will be alright.

this has been a terrible year for Hurricanes...i didn't know this one was supposed to be a problem. I think the kick in the nuts would be if it were to turn to Lousiana and hit that state again.

its totally possible. the hurricane is still so far off it could go just about anywhere.

I talked to a friend down in FL from my internship this summer and they might be evacuating today or tomorrow. Thats in northeast FL, can't imagine what south FL is like.

I lived in the Tampa, FL area when Hurricane Andrew came through. Surreal is the best word to describe it - and we weren't even that badly affected (compared to the folks in Homestead).

I've sat through the remnants of one at the outer banks. Very crazy experience. There were waves breaking way over the pier and wind lightning like you wouldn't believe. I woke up the next morning and half of the pier was gone.

do you guys remember the remnants of that hurricane that blew through JMU last fall? it was the one where that rugby player drowned in the creek near campus when it flooded.

even though we're so far inland, i distinctly rememeber how strong the wind was and that it never stopped, it was just one super long gust. i also remember how incredibly eerie it was to look up and see what looked like clouds racing by at like 100 miles per hour and so close to the ground it felt like i could touch them. it was like the sky was collapsing or something.

I've had a similar experience to Nick at the Outer Banks.. Luckily we all left before it got too bad but on return the dock, part of the roof, and our neighbors boat was gone. Our jet ski was in the neighbor's yard and my uncle's boat was half-way underwater still sitting on the boat lift... not a good time.

i was in Nova Scotia when Hurricane Andrew rode up the east coast, but that was kinda weak - i was only 8 or something when it happened.

I've actually always wanted to sit through a large hurricane just to experience it.

i remember when that fall storm came through. I never thought there would be that much water and wind. But, I highly doubt the the storm will even hit anywhere in the gulf. As it rotates off Mexico it'll get help from the cold front moving across the ocuntry and push north/northeast, they say a lot northeast like off the coast, then hit New England and Cape Cod. If it drags the coast, it'll die down some, but it'll drop a lot of water as parts of it hang over the ocean. Thankfully a lot of the colder waters this time of year in the mid to north atlantic won't fuel the hurricane.

Yeah i was playin football on the quad, and it was two years ago, my 1st year, wow time flies.

I lived on Treasure island in the Gulf in FL for 6 years, no full hurricanes but tropical storms. My house flooded 3 times in thosse 6 years. You do not want to be in that kind of place for a direct hit from a big storm. You get stuck real quick as the bridge approaches flood and you cannot leave even if you want to.
