Towards TurboXS Stage 4 !

Coming in the mail is a Deadbolt ported and polished VF34 turbo and STI fuel injectors. I was going to hold out for a slightly larger turbo, but I couldn't pass up the deal on this package. This turbo should put out tremendous mid range, flowing more than the stock USDM STI turbo (VF39) and should spool up fast as shit due to the P&P. It will make it a little bit harder to get to my 300 awhp goal than say the VF22, but it's a safer, newer, and more efficient ball bearing turbo.

Pics are compliments of the seller:

Hehe, was just talking to the guy who sold it to me, he blew his second piston because he was running too rich with the Cobb Stage 2.5 setup. I was going to run this until I bought a UTEC, but maybe I'll pass on that now.

ported VF34 = :bling: !
You made the right choice IMO, I hate big laggy drag turbos.

are you going to get those injectors cleaned and blueprinted? shouldnt cost too much at a diesel shop.

Update!

Turbo and injectors are here. Turbo looks a lot bigger in the pics than it does in real life, but it's heavy as hell ! Injectors need some new o-rings which probably cost like 6.50 each at the dealership. I bought some generic ones from AutoZone, but I don't think I trust them now to be put on my fuel system heh. In the process of negotiating for a FMIC that lets me retain my stock foglights, a UTEC, loud ass blow off valve, and a fuel pump.

A buddy of mine is going to let me gut the cat out of his stock WRX uppipe, so all I'll need are gaskets ^_^ With that and an ~$80 fuel pump, I should be okay to install the turboh and injectors and run Cobb Stage 2.5 until I procure a UTEC and FMIC. I am a little hesitant to do so however, because of what happened to the previous owner's engine.

Stage 4 install is complete ! The install couldn't have gone any better; we installed an uppipe (basically reinstalled the downpipe too), turbo, fuel injectors, fuel pump, intercooler and blow off valve in 6 hours. I'm too exhausted to post the few pics I have, but I can say this.. this car is a totally different beast now heheh.

I was THISSS close to getting a FMIC before I was talked out of it by another guy who is running the same exact setup as me. He dynoed his car when he had both the TMIC and FMIC with my particular turbo, and says he lost about 25 hp with the FMIC. Lag was horrendous too, he was seeing full bost around 4200 rpms. The VF34 apparently just isn't quite big enough to warrant having all that extra piping under the hood =)

What size FMIC was he using? If you're using too large of an intercooler for your setup you can experience a drop in hp and increase in boost threshold like that dude did. Gotta get the right IC for the job.

Maybe a good intermediate step would be to use the STi TMIC.
