I really hope the motivation isnt to get "mad props" from a bunch of internet board fanbois.... or to drive possibly the only car gayer than a miata (sorry chris).

Chris can drive whatever the hell he wants if it makes over 600 hp. Although Id love to hear what that guy has to launch at to avoid losing traction, if possible at all.

I'd rather have 300 reliable, useable HP than 600 "completely useless, tire smoking, looks great on a dyno chart but drives like crap" HP....

Ok Ok. Lets meet in the middle here.
Chris can build a 500 hp "completely useless, tiresmoking, looks great on a dyno chart" del sol
and he can also build a 300 hp reliable, useable (insert model name here). Personally im partial towards him building a 300 hp geo metro. Hotness.

I say he should build whatever he wants. I made the mistake in my car of not doing some of the things I wanted to do, kind of listening to my dad/neighbor who were helping me put my motor together. I didnt know it at the time, but they were "helping" me build a reliabe, solid as a rock, mediocre engine. Now I'm 100+ HP away from where I could be with a cam and valve spring swap. 300 reliable is ok if you have to drive it every day, but I say build up a "play car" and make it have as much as you can stuff under the hood..if it cant launch, save up some more and do the appropriate drivetrain modifications..lots more fun in the end

i guess if all that guy is doing is drag racing, then its a "usable" power band.
looks like some nice plumbing, regardless.

I'd never put that much money into a Del Slo, but those are impressive #s ! Listen to Hauln-SS's words of wisdom. If you want to add crazy horsepower, you should do it. If you're one of those people who's really into drag racing instead of autocross, there are 3 ways to make your car faster.
1) Lose a ton of weight
2) Improve your launching / shifting techniques
3) Add horsepower

Or in the case of del sol owners, get a new car.

just to add a couple cents to building up a car. Don't do everything at once. Doing it in stages makes it easier on the wallet and lets you enjoy the slow buildup and understand how each mod affected the car.
did anyone notice the dual blow-off valves? never seen that before, wonder what it sounds like

when i rode in Rex's supra (when Dave owned it) it sounded like a dual setup, although it was stock. whatever it was, it sounded great.
