HYPERFEST July 16, 17 Worker Thread
#1
Hyperfest is back again......and will be bigger and better! This is one of our most popular events of the year due to all the extras involved:
Vendors
Car Show
Rollover Contest
Drift Contest ($1,000 to winner)
Tricycle contests among other spectator contests
Jousting
Spokesmodel contest ($500 to winner)
Fireworks
Live band (Theory of a Dead Man)

We need more workers for this event than for any other event. And, we want to have at least one or two extra people at each station so that everyone can take a break and enjoy the Hyperfest activities which will be at the carousel area again this year.

For now, we will take 7-8 workers for positions ranging from regular NASA Positions to positions in the Hyperfest carousel area.

It is my understanding that Summit Point will be providing the corner workers for this event (this is a combined NASA/Summit Event), but we would like to maintain a list of those who would be interested in flagging for $75 each day in case you are needed (must be already trained). If you would be interested in working either position, also let me know.

Please post here and also e-mail me your contact information if you are interested in working any of the positions.

Thanks,
Laura Cobetto

Sat/Sun will be a regular HPDE and sprint race weekend for us on Summit Main. Like last year, we will be doing Hyperdrives on Jeff Circuit plus a US Drift 101 school. US Drift Competitors will be practicing Friday night on Summit Main and the competition will be Saturday night after 5:00 on Summit Main. We are adding Cruise Laps this year......and I think they are scheduled for Jefferson Circuit. I am not aware of anything for Shenandoah Circuit yet.

I will ask about Time Trials on Jeff Circuit but the problem is that we only have one timing and scoring person (James) who is definitely needed on Summit Main. We don't have two sets of equipment for that either. Since Summit was impressed by the fact that all the hyperdrives sold out last year, they may be more likely to want to do those.

Uhhhh can I sign up for a position in the carousel area, I'd much prefer to laugh at ricers and stare at boobies than deal with grumpy racers who are upset at having to share the track with ricers.

Matt,
You are in charge of grid assignments........I am sure you can come up with a creative assignment for yourself (perhaps supervising the breaks of your grid workers in the carousel?)

Good idea, I think I should be in attendance for each person's break to ensure that they report back to grid on time. good thinking Laura.

Laura, I'd be happy to flag.

Rice and boobs have no effect on me. The smell of race fuel, on the other hand...

I'm asking off tomorrow when I go into work, I will definitely work this one.

My dedication is obviously to Grid, afterall I supplied over half of the bikini jousters, the non pr0n stars, for last years competition and didn't get to see a single joust.

Do you think any spectators would come from JMU to Hyperfest? If you think there may be some interest in the Harrisonburg area either with summer school folks or locals, I can mail some flyers/posters for the event to someone for posting a couple of weeks prior to the event. How far a drive is it to Summit?

Also, any of you northern VA people who can put flyers on cars, posters up in various places, etc.......please e-mail me your address and I will mail you some things to post up a few weeks prior to the event. Please e-mail me any other ideas you may have for spreading the word as well.
Thanks!
Laura
