Scotty and I tried Forza out at EB and both of us were pretty impressed, plus they have the Si  . The damage was nice and the physics was pretty good. I also thought about buying an xbox, but if the new one comes out in the fall i think i'm going to have to wait (hoping that it's backwards-compatible with xbox games).
New XBlocks is not going to be backward compatible. However you can get a used one with games for $100 or so on Ebay so that is what I am gonna do. I'm gonna give Forza a test drive first but I have a feeling that I'm going to like it much more than GT4. At least with Forza they took the time to add online play instead of wasting their time putting in 700 cars.
If everyone gets Forza we can have the MM Forza Battle League. Winner gets a trip to JGTC this year.

Current XBOX doesn't have USB ports, well not without certain mod's done to it.

Damn... this shit is a blast. Far superior to GT4. Instead of just buying the biggest turbo and winning all the races, each modification bumps you in to a different class - A, B, C, D. You race against cars in your class, and the AI is pretty damn good. You bump them, they'll bump you. The sound is far superior to GT4. I played career mode for about two hours and then tried my hand at some online fun, since I had a pretty spiffy D1 class Lancia.... HOLY SHIT! The online mode is amazing. More enjoyable than any other console game I've played online. HOLY SHIT. If you've got a headset you can talk shit and stuff and everyone can hear you... Totally awesome. In my first race in what might not be a stellar D1 car, I got 4th. I'm addicted.

But with 3 3.2 cores Im willing to bet emulation will be no sweat. Sony's backwards compatibility has had huge dividends for retaining users, MS isnt going to make the mistake of abandoning that.
It wouldn't hurt MS terribly bad if they didn't include backwards compatibility, they've only got like 3 good games on Xbox anyway 
Either way I'm not gonna wait that long to get Forza.

I just played Forza at Circuit Shitty for about 15 min. Took the NSX and 350Z for many laps around Laguna Seca. Yup, the sound was probably better than GT4. The NSX in particular sounded cool as hell. But please tell me that the demo that's in the stores is not the Forza you all are hyped about.
Camera view. 1st person. I can choose between something like a bumper cam and a front splitter cam. When following another car closely, all I can see is that car. The 350Z was slightly reasonable, but really, the NSX felt like I was driving a cart. It's not THAT low. Maybe it was just the angle. Something sucked.
That's nothing. To me, this didn't feel like any better of a sim than GT4 is. I used the same hamfisted style I use in GT4 and I had a hard time getting the cars out of shape. Nothing like the delicate touch required by LFS, Enthusia, F355, or even SCGT (I haven't played that one in a while though). Braking heavily and turning at the same time? Suddenly lifting mid corner? Flooring it before the corner exit? Severe curb hopping? No problem. Even turning in with two wheels off, which GT4 no longer lets you get away with, Forza did. Yes I had traction control and stability control off.
Now I'm in no way saying this is a bad game. I have not played the full version. In fact, it sounds like the full version has some very cool features. And, it may well be better than GT4. But the physics model, I'd say, from what I experienced today, is very similar and simplistic. I was surprised just how much it felt like GT4.
Guess I have to go try this out for myself. If its at least as good as GT4 but includes online play I might get it anyway. But then again the $150 to get an Xbox and Forza could be better spent on the real racecar (or the real POS).
