I'm moving into a place on old high street and my lease starts June 1st and it looks to me that it has a garage. I can run it by my 2 other room mates to see if it'd be alright to keep a car there. I haven't looked around the place too much so im not sure how much space is in the garage (for excess parts etc) but if they OK it the car has got to be rolling. Also i wouldn't mind wrenching on it in my spare time so if i got it running I'd offer up some money to buy it from the club(one with a title). Also to anyone who lives in ashby, we could have a rolling chassis stay in the regular parking lot for $1 a week (visitor pass), just an idea i dunno how ashby would feel or if they'd even notice.

You could probably park one or two in the visitor gravel lot of hunter's ridge. I've never seen anyone towed there for any reason heh.

I haven't mentioned this project to the XR world yet - I have recieved three emails this mroning (as of 8:51am) of people suggesting places to find engines, modified harnesses, and a guy offing to give me some modified mounts specifically for the XR V-8 swap. Neat huh?

No pressure either way, but lets get a decision!

I have a friend that's considered one of the "Gods" in the XR world. This guy is a mechanical engineer, owns a machine shop, and is obsessed with XR's. What a great combo huh?

Anyhow, he and I have been discussing this idea of a V8 XR today, and I wanted to share with the groups:

Hi Peter,

Ellery Walker Bedford (from Canada) had me do a 5.0 swap for him last fall. He came down the first of April to pick it up and ecstatic about how it runs. With Jims harness and motor mounts the motor goes in better than a 2.3. Once in there it's easier to work on than a 2.3. The harness is a drop in assy with just a couple of extra wires to connect at the alternator. Once everything was done it started right up like it didn't know any better. It's amazing what a 5.0 will do to a XR. Driving is effortless. Torque makes all the difference. With iron heads it will weigh about 75lbs more than a stock XR. Toss the AC and stuff and you can get the weight back down.

Honestly, I'm doing my best to stay neutral on the decision. As I find inspring thoughts though I am sharing them. And FYI, I know each name mentioned in this email personally, have their phone numbers, and have done business with them in the past. Which should help...?

I'm waiting to hear if we get an extension on the pickup date, I will update this thread accordingly.

That pictures is what a stock bottom end looks like after 23psi, not enough fuel, and an open downpipe (no exhaust). Darn boost controllers.

"Crank it up to 23!!!11 whoooo!!" doesn't have the same appeal, for some reason.

Also, Chris has given the green light, we've got OG and Alum support, I think we should go forward. We're working hard at storage, but I think that we at least have worst-case scenarios for storage of every car.

We've talked a lot and we really feel this is an opportunity we can't pass up. There are still many details to work out, especially storage. Any and all help in this manner would be greatly appreciated.

We have a couple leads on storage and should hear back soon.
