there is a company that is making kits for vehicles. seems to be a decent thought at least. we've seen the site floating around RPS quite a few times now and then when noobs find it.

Are you implying something? :| The guy on the site explains it very well, I would do the filter a bit different.

i cant even think about the lag on that sucker

If you do that mod, then you should mount the intercooler on top of the car to reduce heat soak

Cool concept, but what is the purpose of it ? Lag would be horrendous I'd imagine. Is it just done when you don't have enough room in the engine bay for a turbo and supporting mods ?

I must admit though, it would be funny as hell to have your intercooler next to your turbo in the rear and have a loud ass blow off valve wooshing at traffic behind you as you.

no no no.

just when the noobs of RPS find it, it's like the idiots when the find the Tornado!!! Smile

the company that i seen making it is a bit different from that. i remember the turbo being further up underneath the vehicle. from what i've read on the other site, there isn't really a lag problem either.

I've had this discussion with Sean more than twice.

A turbo is not a pinwheel being blown by exhaust flow.

Exactly. Thats the dumbest idea ever. There is almost no heat back there.

EGTs or not, this setup is seemingly very effective on f-bodies and the like. the large displacement is definitely helpful from a lag standpoint, but otherwise the distance from the engine doesnt seem to hurt the power the turbo system puts out. i'm too lazy to look for links, but f-bodies with this same setup are putting out very respectable numbers on stock internals with remote turbos.

and another thing too...notice how the exhaust after the turbo exducer is totally minimal. "a turbine operates via a pressure
ratio. For a given turbine inlet pressure, you will get the highest pressure ratio across the turbine when you have the lowest possible discharge pressure." that may offset the losses of gas velocity.

i would hate to run through a deep puddle with this setup after driving hard. great way to shatter hot turbo goodies Confusedhock:

sites working for me now.

http://ststurbo.com/

from the site it seems to be right there, but still seems iffy.

they have vids of a truck with it running through mud and water and it supposedly doesn't hurt it.

it seems that the GMC truck that is really famous on the web is running the STS system......hmmmmmm...

I don't know what a F-body is but Camarobirds run this setup but further up at the y-pipe. Apparently its popular because there isn't any space to run a big ass turbo in those cars, and 5.7 liters can compensate for drop in egts due to its placement.

This kit has been bought from a few guy I talk to on another forum I frequent. It is a good power adder. As said on the website the lag is not really a problem even though the tubing is long. I know I have seen multiple videos of multiple setups and it hasnt dissappointed me yet.

man, I thought you were kidding at first and those pics were photoshops or something.... but people really do this? I'm at a loss. How can all that custom piping be worth it.... And where's the pipe to lead back to the intake? Just removed in these pics or am I missing something? I'd be pissed when I went over a tall speed bump and scraped my turbo on the ground... :?:

Turbo seems quite vulnerable just sticking out there ! Hell, it certainly makes it more vulnerable to theft if someone knows its there.

Maybe that's where I'll make a million.... TURBO LOCKS !

hasn't been fabbed up yet apparently.

i guess with the piping being so long the air has enough time to cool...so there's no need for an intercooler?

doesn't like dirt/dust get inside it and ruin the turbine rather quickly?

it looks like they use some pretty gnarly filter for the turbine with an added dust sock on the outside.

despite this system acutally working, i cant imagine the problems this would give you if you hit any kind of deep water at all.
