what do you guys think about another cruise before the car show? the weather will be getting more and more perfect, and it would be nice to get this in before all the final projects/final tests start to get in the way.
how does reddish knob next weekend sound?
I'd be up for a nice cruise as long as the weather is nice... This time no last minute time changes though. :x
I think the cruise on 33 was da bomb, we should do that again. Maybe be a little bit safer, hahaha.

Yes, 33/220/250 is a great road. 3 hours though when going with a group, perhaps a little long for most.

"ha ha ha", Shut it Rob. Generally I just disregard your posts that are either uncalled for or irrelevant, but this one got to me. That's one of those things that are to remain unspoken. If you wanted it to be safer, you should have ridden in a slower car and/or with a slower driver. You asked for a ride, noone made you get in, and I'm personally insulted by that statement. I could tell you were scared but you got yourself into that situation. You could have asked to get out. I was pushing the car and the road, but I was also in control and I know the taboo of that mountain.
90% of that drive was at my normal pace. Everyone can go their own pace on that road, so rather than acting like a tattle tale on those of us that have an understanding of that road that you do not, kept a pace more brisk than most, and that let you even ride, just mind your own business, ok? I take responsibility for my driving, my car, and whatever good or bad things may come of it, and so I do not need you to tell me to be safer just because we were outside of your comfort level.

This is something that should occur in a PM, not on the message board. I think what Rob said is perfectly valid. He shouldn't feel the need to "shut it" - this isn't some secret society. You know as well as I do that parts of that drive were far from "scenic." No one forced him into the car, but I doubt he knew the drive was going to be as "brisk" as it was either. This shouldn't even be an issue, and certain people shouldn't have been driving the way that they were. "pushing the car and the road" isn't the point of a SCENIC DRIVE. I really don't give a flying fuck how you drive, how fast you drive, if you are in control or not, if you give a shit about laws, cops or other motorists, as long as you do it on your own time - i.e. not when you are leading a group of cars, many who's drivers had no idea where they were going. Rob's comment is perfectly valid - the next drive should be a little safer, whether you want to admit it or not.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

Pete, me and you can take our own 'Senic Drive' once I get the motor in. We'll leave the tampons at home too. Sound good?

Back to the topic at hand - I might be interested in this. We'll be in the 'burg for a wedding on Saturday - if this *scenic drive* happens in the morning (unlikely) then we might be able to show up.
My two feet.
Some of your points have validity. I will certanily admit that the front group, lead by me, had a heck of an awesome drive, albeit unsafe at times. I figured that the rest were autonomous enough to drive at your own pace. We didn't have a gun to your back to go fast... And we did stop at each overlook ;-).
As for not knowing where you were going, we all made sure there was no man left behind. Did anyone get lost? Nope! Did anyone even make one wrong turn? Nope! Cars were counted and I waited at every intersection to make sure all were present and accounted. So don't feel insecure about that.
Anyhow, whatever. The group I was with had a great time. That's the way I drive, have always driven, and will always drive. I don't feel that we were out of line. If it's too much for you, don't try to follow, and I won't lead the next drive. Deal?
Ok, enough thread jacking, proceed.

i almost went there one weekend when i was living in Greenville, SC last summer. apparently though, its infested with crazy bikers on the weekends and the police know it. unless you go on an odd day at an odd time i have a feeling it wouldnt be much fun.
I have heard about and seen enough pictures of e30s wrecking on that road...not to mention the bikers. hock:
I'm up for a drive though. I should be around this weekend.

Gah Damn Pete. I didn't expect that reaction otherwise I would have not even said it jokingly. I had no idea of your driving tendencies before I decided to ride with you. It was my choice and I obviously didn't want to change cars because I got back in the car with after the photo opportunity. When I said "safer" I think that the whole group could have been, I just wasn't talking about you. Remember if something happens our club goes down the drain. It was a blast riding with you, and I will never forget it, but the same scenic drive with the same mentality can lead to an incident, whether you may feel it is unlikely or not. I like Mikey also say things that aren't personal, and I don't think I even had a hint of mentioning you in my 2 sentence post.

yeah, i've heard of that dragon tail road too. my dad drove his bike down there last summer and he said it was crazy. like nick and scotty said, it supposedly is crawling with crazy people and bikers who have to be removed from trees. i'd still love to see it though.
oh, and i missed the last one so i would like to try and make it out to this one. keep us posted.
sat apri 2nd sounds good. vote at the meeting on wed.
sounds good. not to be a bitch, but I'll lead this drive- so no complaints arise.
