blown shock?

i was changing my oil today and noticed this on my driver's side front shock:

what do you guys make of it? about a month ago i noticed a small puddle of fluid under my car in this exact location but thought it was just some thinned out grease that leaked out of my axle boot after a long drive. i never saw the puddle again.

i don't do any dukes of hazard style jumps, haven't hit any big potholes, and i haven't noticed a single difference in the way the car handles. in fact i had no idea anything was wrong until i saw this.

here's the passenger side front shock for reference:

i wonder who makes the OEM shocks for this car. 35k miles is pretty early for a shock to go.

if one shock blows, that means i should replace all of them with koni yellows....right?

And ground-control coilover kits as well.

You know, just to be safe... the springs might be bad too Wink

If you want to save money, you only have to replace shocks in pairs. 35k is really early for shocks to go. That really sucks.

I want to put new shocks in the SHO as well, although I have little suspension repair experience.

you have struts, right? i think the require a little more work than mine (shocks/A-arms). i feel like it cant be too hard though.

will i need a spring compressor to change out my shocks? i'm thinking yes.

Yes, I have struts - my bad. The procedure doesn't seem that hard at all - I just need the time and the tools to muddle my way through it.

If we can find a pretty day, I'd be good for sponcering a suspension day at my house/Garage. I have sping compressors, air tools, etc, and between Sean and I we've done more than our fair share of suspension work.

It would have to be done after VIR on Feb 18th.

So if anyone's interested, and not to bump this thread, but let me know.

I have some Prodrive Springs heading my way that should go on pretty quick with a little help. I'd more then happy to lend an extra hand and help out with some other cars while I'm there. Let me know if Suspension Day is on!
