Well now I'm pretty confused on your point. Greta is in that group of people, so clearly they're all wasting their time?

*edit* I get that you aren't impressed by her faux "carbon neutral" trip, but everyone had to travel to this thing. She used it as a chance to get some attention, which is an important part of riling up support. And you titled her as "spoiled" which since you don't know her I assume you mean she is from a family with $$, which isn't an evil thing. She chose to do a lot more than waste it on iDevices and clothes. Anyway, you're allowed to not like her that's fine. Maybe it's the braids.

I think you have my response confused with Polen's. I didn't make any character assessments.

I honestly don't believe there will be movement of consequence with the impeachment proceedings. I think it's likely to help him not get re-elected, but I don't forsee anything else *really* happening before then. Maybe... hopefully?... I'm wrong.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I think the old guard Dems and old guard Reps dislike agent orange enough to move him out... the motivation for the Reps would be to get Pence in line for 2020 and have the twitter-sphere go away.

I think you will hate Pence more than agent orange... he's going to push policy you all dislike and give you no twitter ammo.

If this isn't a death blow he's going to ride this win hard... so you are right... sit down, buckle up, and pray.

Pence is by far the worse option between the two. But... he'd only be in office for about a year (ish) and have to deal with the 2020 election. Something tells me his hate for others, shrouded in religion, wouldn't go very far toward being a seriously electable candidate. Hopefully the GOP sees that, although they've been riding the faux-Christianity train for a long time now.

i think i'm with Kaan on this, and i wasn't before.  while you can say it generally about most politicians, the modern majority GOP is the model of a Win At All Costs party.  they will eat their own if there's enough threat to their careers and the associated gravy train.  current trump optics are looking pretty bad.  he's going under the bus if they think Pence gives them a better shot at 2020 and will take pressure off of their long term behavior inspection.

Pence is old guard style. I think the old guard on both sides are more comfortable with Pence than Trump... running trump out of office will fire up his base to align with the old guard.

If i get all conspiracy on it... Trump might want out. His business dealings have taken a hit and while he likes the spot light, long term exposure as the president will weaken his ability to be shady in future deals.

IMHO, no matter how you shake it... this is bad for the middle of the country... the economic middle and the political middle...

extra conspiracy... the could be the left/right old guard taking a shot at killing any 3rd party movement. the movement is there, the candidate is not.

Yup, I'm at the point where Trump is the lesser of the two evils in comparison to Pence. I hope he (Trump) doesn't get run out of office before his term ends because things will move significantly more back ass wards with Pence at the helm

You guys crack me up thinking Pence is going to run the world back to 1950 if he gets into the Oval. You do remember that laws go through the House and Senate? If Pence and Trump wanted to open up gay conversion centers they would have done it already.

Not to say Pence isn’t a bigot and wants to trample LGBT rights because it’s clear he does.

I feel that Pence would at least follow the letter of the law.

I dunno, it seems to me like the GOP should've turned on Trump a long time ago if they wanted to preserve the long term prospects of the party. Pence would've become president and at the very least they would've had a more reliable and rational person to push the GOP agenda. Instead Trump not only makes all Republicans look bad, he routinely changes his mind and torpedoes GOP policies. Then there's the whole obsession with the wall and incoherent foreign policy.

At this point the GOP can still jettison Trump but some of the long term damage to the party has already been done.

This could be said about many things that should not happen, but do actually happen. Shit happens and to think like this is why it actually does indeed happen

I mean, as much as the DNC would like to, they aren't taking anyone's guns, at least not today:

https://www.politico.com/amp/story/2019/...ts-1509746?

But just because something isn't very likely at the moment doesnt mean we shouldn't remain informed and vigilant against violations of human rights.

Senate GOP was always going to block any gun legislation, because NRA lobbying and re-election money.

The notion of the democrats taking away all the guns is a fucking boogeyman. Stop it. I heard the same shit for 8 years while Obama was in office - guess what? Still got your guns. Lots of 'em. The best guns.

And right now, team R & all of the conservatives would rather keep their guns and have this -

than give their guns back. Let that sink in.

And, if the NRA and other gun/2a lobbies and supporters dont start to play nice together to present some solution, congress WILL take them all away. They've had, how long has it been since the Brady bill? But a long time, to be part of the conversation and they've circled the wagons around themselves. They're just going to get slaughtered if they keep it up.

lol is that the transcript of doom?!?!?! please tell me there is more than one leader of a country trying to schmooze another leader with fluff?

Also RJ... The SC has had several findings that would make Brady Bill 2.0 very difficult and/or any other law very difficult to pass. I think it has less to do with the NRA/2A lobbies and more to do with the legal findings. Outside of a constitutional amendment, and we know how the restrictive ones do, I don't see a real solution.

If the SC findings are used to challenge the National Firearms Act... which some think they could be used... anti 2A folks are going to get triggered (see what i did there).

will they release this thing so i can read it... sheesh.

Pieces of the transcript:

"I would like you to do us a favor," Trump asked President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, according to the official account released on Wednesday.

Continued Trump, according to the memo:

"I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation in Ukraine ... There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that. So whatever you can do with the attorney general would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it ... it sounds horrible to me."
