Fuck that. Was it the buyer or realtor creeping around? As the buyer there should be common courtesy to not show up that late and expect everything to run smoothly (too bad most people don't have common sense). And if they were there with a realtor that is completely unacceptable on the realtor's part to not contact your realtor.
Agreed, and again, most realtors are garbage. We had a few late arrival showings when we were selling our townhouse and every time their realtor reached out to our realtor to make sure it was okay with us first. That's common courtesy.

Well it seems inconsiderate people exist in all walks of life.
I made sure the realtor knew damn well they were really late and didnt bother to contact or change the appointment - would have been no problem for me if they'd done that. Everything is through an app so no excuses - its like they are oblivious of the fact that there's someone still living in the house.
Having found a really good realtor I cant imagine how awful this process is with a shitty one.

i would have gone to the front door, raised my glass to the realtor, and said "better luck tomorrow" and slammed the door. people can F off once they're an hour over with no communication, and additionally go to hell if they think they're going to parachute in during dinner time. nobody calling themselves a professional should get away with that.

I hate bugs. Especially spiders. Since moving to our new place we have been dealing with spiders and, most recently, wolf spiders. All over the garage, back yard, crawl space, and found one inside the house today. I generally spray Ortho Home Defense but it doesn’t really work on bigger spiders and only seems to work for a week or so. So I ordered some industrial strength stuff, Talstar P Insecticide. 96 ounces was like $35, but it says you only mix one ounce per gallon and the reviews seem to show that it kills everything. It’s illegal in 3 states, so it must be strong shit. I’ll update everyone one how it works once I get it in.

My wife is all over the insect protection and there's really not much you can do about spiders unless you spray them directly. The barrier chemicals don't really work. Just be careful with that stuff and where you spray it / how you handle it. If it's banned in some states it's probably extremely toxic and could cause long term health problems if you expose yourself to it.
We have had fire ants down this way, especially after the hurricane flooding and I actually glove up and wear a mask any time I handle the Ortho spray and white ant powder

Yeah, that shit is banned in the EU, is possibly carcinogenic to humans, and is pretty toxic to fish and bees... if you care about such things.

I don’t. I wear long clothes, mask and gloves when applying, and I don’t have any landscaping around my house that are appealing to bees. We honestly haven’t seen more than a handful of bee’s at our house all summer and we aren’t near any fish.

part of the equation is also: what's the source that the spiders are after? they're feeding on something...that's what you really want to kill. its hard to isolate that kind of thing but as cold weather sets in just keep some traps down for stuff like roaches and earwigs. that might help.
between the fire ants, velvet ants, scorpions, palmetto bugs and black widows, i can't wait for it to get cold so that stuff will finally die down here.

Ugh, I remember my first apartment i moved into in Harrisonburg there were TWO black widows in the corner of my closet while i was moving in. Later that week another was in the underside corner of my desk. I almost moved out, never saw anymore though.

Fuuuuuuu that reminds me of a time I had to jump into a foxhole absolutely covered in black widows out in Ft Pickett to qualify with an M4. Took a lot of self control to not use my 40 rounds on those fuckers. Never again...
Not sure how far I wanna take complaining about the cop that sat at the end of my driveway running everyone's plates at Turducken. That shit was absolutely ridiculous but the rule on the books currently does state that all 4 tires of any car parked on the side of any road have to be completely off the pavement. Quite a few people aren't happy with the new enforcement of this rule given the nature of the mountain roads. Not to mention the fact that having 1/10th of a tire off the road doesn't impede shit especially in a fucking cul de sac. Hearing the words "rules are rules" and seeing people actively avoid common sense and/or any form of critical thinking gets me irrationally angry so I'll probably leave it be since it might be something that affects me personally once a year tops.

We have tons of crickets that get driven out of the field beside us, and grasshoppers everywhere, but they don't really bother me. Guess that's what attracting the spiders though.

scorpions are rare. black widows are predictable in where you find them and they want out of your way ASAP.
the female velvet ants aka cow killers are the weapons-grade nightmare material. you guys are definitely in their range so watch yourself in bare feet.
they look like cute, furry orange giant ants but its a flightless wasp. they will wreck your life for 48 hours if you get tagged. the females wander solitary on the ground so its impossible to figure out where they are. seen 2 in our yard in our 4 years here, i seriously fear them but try to still let my dog/kid play outside and hope they never cross paths.

that'll do it. they won't mess with the hoppers (since they aren't usually on the ground) but crickets are fair game. glue traps or homemade clear water bottle traps will get 'em.

I've definitely seen one or two of those here, heard they are savage little insects. But yeah it's the fire ants that will get you more often if you don't watch where you step in the yard.
